Please remind me that accidents happen

DD wet the bed 2 nights ago.  She hasn't done that forever. . . but hey, accidents happen.  It was the first really cold night we had and who wants to get out of bed to pee.  She was very upset, but we reminded her that "accidents happen" and didn't think much of it.

She proceeded to pee her pants 2 more times during the day.  She's been potty trained for about 6 months and that hasn't happened since her first day of training.  She told me that she "didn't feel it coming out."  But she also told me that nothing hurt.

She couldn't seem to pee right before bed, so I got her up in the middle of the night to go and she didn't wet the bed.

I'm re-instating some incentives to stay dry today, but I hope it's just a fluke.

It could just be a fluke, right??  This is completely out of character.

  • Could be a fluke but keep an eye on her b/c it could also be a uti.

  • It's totally a fluke! B has been PT'd since December and had accidents about 4 mos after and they stopped. She just had one this weekend because she didn't make it in time.

  • Last week, Rory peed and pooped in her pants in a matter of two days.  It was the oddest thing, but it hasn't happened again.  She's been trained since last November.

In fact, I watched her when she peed.  She was just standing in the kitchen and suddenly it started coming and she couldn't make it stop.  She was horrified.

  • So a uti could make her pee uncontrollably even if it didn't hurt?  I figured I'd keep an eye on it for a few days and treat it as "behavioral" before I called the doctor.

I've never had a uti.  I have no clue.

  • yep, for now, I'd just chalk it up to accidents happen
  • It could be the start of one but it is most likely an accident.

  • Could be a behavioral regression because of the new baby on the way.  This is VERY common.
  • She had no idea the baby was on the way until late yesterday. . . and the accidents started first thing yesterday morning, so I doubt that's it.

  • could she have picked up on it? I do think these things happen and I'd just keep an eye out for a UTI.
  • DD has occasional accidents or days with multiple accidents. She's been potty trained for 10 months or so. She gets busy playing and won't stop to use the bathroom. I can watch her grab her crotch knowing she has to go, and she'll tell me she doesn't if I ask. She's too stubborn. The only way we can get her to go then is to ask her if she wants to go first or second (after one of us). She always wants to go first.

Good trick!  We will see how today goes.
