XP: Car Seats in Accidents

LO and I were in an accident back in June. He was only 6 weeks...it was soooo frekin scary. Anyway, we were both fine but the car needed significant repairs. I read the recommendations about replacing it but misread it and thought I didn't need to replace it. After randomly re-reading the recommendation today, I realized that I do need to replace it. The article also mentioned that some insurance companies will cover the replacement. So I just spoke with Geico and they are covering it! My claim was closed out a while ago but they are still able to do it. All I have to do is go buy a new one and send in my receipt and they will send me a check. Just wanted to pass along the info.

  • That'sgood to know about insurance!  Sorry about your accident - but glad you're both ok.

  • Didn't know that about insurance coverage - very good to know.  So sorry again that you had that accident - scary scary scary.

  • Yep - I was in an accident last fall that totalled my car. Thankfully DD wasn't with me (I guess technically DD2 was since I was pg with her!). The first thing USAA did was reimburse me for a new car seat for DD.

  • If you buy a Radian, they will replace it, too... depending on how serious the accident is.
