refigerated BM

Do you give it to your LO cold out of the fridge or warm it up? I have been giving it cold and she takes it just fine...just wondering if I am suppose to warm it up though. My mom mentioned something about it possible giving her a belly ache....but she has been taking it fine for the past couple of days. Thanks!

Re: refigerated BM

  • I used to warm it up, but then started giving it to DS cold, he did not react any differently. I think as long as it doesn't seem to negatively affect LO then it's okay.

  • You don't need to warm it up if LO takes cold milk. The belly ache thing is old info-my parents mentioned it too. There is no medical reason to warm it.
  • DD drinks cold BM right out of the fridge. I asked this question on here when DD was 2 weeks old, because my sister in-law told me the same thing about the belly aches. People told me that its fine to give cold refrigerated milk. DD does not have any problems with belly aches.

  • DS usually gets warmed BM, not very warm, but slightly warmer than cold.  He will also take it cold if he's really hungry and we don't have time to wait to warm it.
