3rd Trimester

Anyone with tachycardia?

Just wondering if they are (or did) inducing you early or if you are having a c-section to take the stress of labor away. I have my cardiology and OB appts later this week so I hope to have some answers then. Just curious if anyone else is going through this.

Re: Anyone with tachycardia?

  • I do!  Atrial tachycardia.  Been a pain in my ass since I was 17 and has gotten MUCH worse during pregnancy.  I'm hoping it doesn't turn into atrial fibrillation, like it did for my grandpa, dad and a few of my cousins.  Boo.

But my OB hasn't mentioned anything about inductions or c-sections whatsoever.  I didn't even know it would pose any risk for labor at all.

    Hmmmm.

  • I have SVT - supraventricular tachycardia.  OB said it might get worse during pregnancy and it really hasn't .  My heart has acted up a couple of times but nothing too bad or more than before.  He also said that it shouldn't interfere with giving birth, although I am leaning more towards a C-sections and this being one of the reasons.  GL with your appts.
  • I had VTach for many many years.  I had ablasion done and it has changed my life!  Although you can not get this done during pregnancy I highly highly recommend doing it when you can.
  • My normal resting heart rate is 100-110. With any physical stress (walking across the room) it sky rockets. I also have frequent palpitations. My old OB said it wouldn't pose a problem during delivery, although I am super nervous about it. I get winded and out of breath SO easily, and it's become way worse with pregnancy.

I'm seeing a new OB 2 weeks from now and will bring this up with her.

  • I have SVT, Sinus Tachycardia and POTS, Postural Orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. I was having a lot of probs with them during the 1st trimester and it pretty much all stopped the 2nd and now it's coming back a little bit I have never had an issue when in labor with my heart and I've done one labor with an epidural and 3 different IV narcotics and one labor no drugs almost all at home no epidural and they don't expect me to have a problem this time. I of course refused all meds also because they are all Class D which I will not put in my body while pregnant because they are known to cause birth defects. But my doc said the only one that is really any risk to me is the POTS only because I could pass out from standing up too fast and hit my head so I just get up easier. I have another ablation scheduled for next year, I had one when I was 16 but an SVT cropped up in a new spot.
