Dirty looks in Starbucks

I hate the dirty looks I get when going into or out of Starbucks. I feel like screaming at everyone, "It's decaf, is that ok with you?!" And then yesterday I was really craving a chai latte and had already had a non-decaf tea that day (I try to limit my caffeine to 1 beverage a day at most) so I asked at the counter if they could do a decaf chai latte. The rude and impatient man behind me butt in and said, "no, I'm pretty sure its a mix that comes in a box." Ummm... excuse me, I'm pregnant and have a right to ask the barista themselves what they can and can't do! Grrrrr!

I am so over the ugly looks. I usually smile and follow-up with a big sip of my non-decaf coffee. Judgers can butt-out and get over it. It's my body, my baby, and my decision.

i know. in san francisco, i never get dirty looks at the coffee shop- and i'm getting regular caffeinated coffee! i'm actually surprised that no one has lectured me about drinking coffee... i guess people are hip to the one cup of coffee rule these days or something...

We had a wedding Saturday and I had DH get me cranberry juice with seltzer and a lime. It came in a cocktail glas and you should have seen the dirty looks I got! People are so judgmental.

This happened to me on our babymoon. I was walking around drinking a club soda and lime and my DH told me I either had to switch the cup or ditch it because people were looking at me like I was an unfit mother.

I think so! I always order decaf, but I haven't noticed any "looks" when at Starbucks. I do however get the occasional "that's decaf right?" from co-workers (I work in L&D). And then other co-workers will be like, it's 3am, have a cup of coffee, one cup a day isn't going to hurt anything!

Why is it people feel the need to get up on one's business just because they're pregnant? Dude, I would have totally made MMMMM noises as I sucked down my latte and stared at everyone dead in their faces. Angry

I have a venti PSL every single day. That is my only caffeinated beverage of the day. I usually go through the drive-thru because it is easier with DS. The other day I went in and the barista said "decaf, right?" I said NO! Screw her and everyone and their opinions, it's not like I'm buying a bag of crack! lol

Ha I got you beat, on the 15th (i rememeber the day it was my anny) I got a strawberry and cream frap. dh and I were walking around the store getting things we needed and some lady grabbed my arm and yelled at me for poisoning my child with coffee. Needless to say dh immed was on it, and the manager had her escorted out of the store.

I didn't even drink caffeine much to begin with before my bfp. But I do treat myself to the occasional (lately that means 1/week) SB drink. I have been looking and waiting for dirty looks but haven't seen any so far...I do not feel bad about a little caffeine once in a while at all and I drink it with pride

I have yet to drink any decaf during pregnancy...although I onlyhave coffee once or twice a week, and what does anyone know anyway? They're just making assumptions about the way you look and what you have in your hand. Next time I get a chai I'm gonna ask them to throw in a shot of espresso! Yum!

That's hilarious, since the s&c frap doesn't even have any coffee in it!

I am personally not a coffee drinker but I love that drink.

DH and I went to breakfast at Dennys one morning and she offered him a coffee, looked at me and said, "do you want an orange juice or something?" and I was going to order a coffee... I was pretty annoyed.

I drink a cup of coffee almost everyday. Non-decaf.

I'm so over the looks/comments.

This past weekend was my brother's wedding. I had *gasp* two sips of champagne during the toasts--and you should've seen the looks. Later I was drinking ginger ale (in a cocktail glass, of course), causing even more dirty looks. The next day at a big BBQ, I had a blast weirding people out by drinking an O'Doul's Amber---you'd think I was drinking a huge martini or something.

Screw 'em...and enjoy your coffee!

You're kidding!! I was going to agree with PP that no one around here really gives me a look whether I'm getting a cup of coffee or ordering a glass of red when out to dinner. I'm stunned that's happening to you here, i would get into a screaming fight with the person who did this!!

Wow, I haven't received any weird comments but I live by the wish factor. I wish somebody would come up to me and say something as I drink my refreshing ice cold Coke in this hot a$$ weather. Back the fc#k off people it's not crack!
