for the past couple of weeks, DD does not want to eat much at all! It is extremely frustrating, esp. when she doesn't want to eat her cereal (main source of iron) as I mix it with BM and if she doesn't eat it, I have to dump it and I hate wasting BM!
She also does not want anything out of the jars anymore, including recent faves peas, carrots, prunes, etc. Of course I just bought a whole bunch of them!
She's 11 mo old and I know at this age babies start growing at a much slower rate and are thus less hungry. I also know it's natural to want "real" food but she'll only eat a few pieces of whatever I put on her high-chair tray. She's not underweight but I still worry. She only nurses morning and night now and only maybe 4-5 oz at a feeding. She doesn't drinik much BM during the day (we offer it in bottle, sippy, and straw).
Is this normal? Should I be worried? Should I just vary her diet more? We are still introducing 1 food at a time as she's shown allergies to several foods (sweet potatoes, dairy, others)
any suggestions?
TIA
Re: Refusing food
I would not worry. DD went through the same thing a few weeks ago--refusing to eat from a spoon and only wanting to feed herself. Even when she fed herself, she wouldn't eat much and threw a lot of it on the floor. I consulted many friends with older kids and was assured--she's not going to starve!
This phase only lasted a week or two (thank goodness) and now she's back to eating a mix of baby food and "grown up" (self - fed) foods.
she has 8 teeth, 4 of them fully out, 2 about halfway out and 2 a little bit out; Dr also thought her molars were coming in
I'll just keep trying!
