I have the Medela PISA and really liked it. My sister told me that the shields that come with it are the wrong size for most people and that I would have had even better results if I'd checked with a LC to get fitted. I only had issues in the end an I don't think it had anything to do with the pump, I just think my milk wouldn't come down.
If you deliver at St V's they will fit you for the pump parts at your post partum care center appt! It's a day or two after discharge with a lactation/post partum nurse. Super helpful. They can also advise you regarding the best pump for your lifestyle if you can wait to get yours until then.
I had the Medela Pump In Style Advance also and loved it (as much as you can love a breast pump anyway). It was the most recommended pump at the time, and after having a preemie I wanted to make sure I had the best pump possible since I was going to be exclusively pumping for a couple months. Medela was the most recommended by my hospital and my lactation nurse. Medela is pricey compared to some others, but you get what you pay for, and I'm saving mine for baby #2.
Well, that settles it I guess! LOL The Medela PISA it is! LOL
ChrisnTris, I wont be getting one till after baby is here so that is good news about the LC nurses. If I can get my Dr. to write a note, I can get a discount on it. Ooo I also just heard my OB is going to be working strictly at the hospital soon. Dr. Wendy Smith. I haven't found out when she starts though.... hopefully Sept! LOL
I have the medela free style. i really have liked it. it is small, and you don't need to have it plugged in to use it. Having said that, I did have to send back my first pump b/c it stopped working. They sent out a new one super fast w/ no hassle though.
