UPDATED: Looks like our IVF cycle is getting postponed

In order to do our PGD they need my DNA probe that has the mutation of my chromasonal abnormality. Well, apparently my probe has gone missing from the lab in Utah. It takes about 4 weeks to get another one made (not to mention about $1,200) and Dr. Vaughn won't even allow us to start meds without having the probe. So if they can't find it by tonight then we have to put off the IVF cycle for at least one cycle but most likely two cycles.

I'm upset. I'm really really upset and sad. I don't understand why we keep getting blow after blow after blow. I really thought things were starting to look up for us after my new insurance. I have not told DH yet and honestly I don't even know how to tell him. He is going to be so upset. Our entire lives are centered around doing this.

Anyway, I will know for sure by tomorrow morning.

UPDATE: Good news, they found the probe in Utah. Bad news the lab in Detroit that will be doing the testing on the actual embryos needs a different type of probe that will take, wait for it, FIVE MONTHS to create. My probe was used for amniotic testing and apparently you need a different probe for embryo testing. There is a slight chance that they might be able to use the one that we already have to create the new one and that will only take three weeks but it is slim. The genetic counselors at the lab in Detriot are gone for the day so I still won't know anything until tomorrow at the earliest but as of now, we are for sure being post-poned one cycle at best. But most likley 5-6 months.

Oh, L, that sucks. Ditto Christmas, you all shouldn't have to pay for a new probe if this one is lost. It's not like you all went out to Utah and lost it.

what stinky situation... even if they DID find it. How did they not know which kind of probe to test you for?? How horrible to have to wait 5 months because someone didn't do the right thing from the beginning. Positive thinking dust coming your way!
