my sister is in the process of buying a house and is having the most difficult time. She is trying to figure out if its issues iwth her real estate agent...or laws of Washington state or what...she's feeling like she's getting jacked around.
So here are my questions if you bought a house in WA, or Seattle area....I can't think of the island they are buying on, but its off the Seattle coast...
1. When you signed the papers to "close" on the house, did you get your keys that day or did you have to wait?
2. Did you have issues with not having all the paperwork at closing and having to go back for more paperwork?
Basically, she signed papers, gave her money last Tuesday and STILL does not have the keys....they first said that the paperwork needed to be submitted with the state before she'd get the keys...but now there is a problem with a tenant living in the house and not moving out yet....and the well wasn't tested and failed the test, but she didn't find this out until after she signed the papers...and at this point she talked to a real estate lawyor in Nebraska and while the laws may be different at this point she is worried tha the contract isn't even binding and she's extremely frustrated with her agent who is not being helpful AT ALL.......
Re: anyone buy a house in Seattle? Or Washington??
I bought and sold a house in Redmond WA. its on the opposite side of lake washington that Seattle is. I am guessing your Sister is buying a house on Bainbridge Island? I don't know if anything changes buying a house on an island but We didn't have any issues like that for buying or selling. We came in on closing day. Signed all our paperwork and were handed the keys. Now when we sold the house neither us or the buyers had realtors so I was responsible for giving the keys to the buyers the escrow company wouldn't do it. I have heard sometimes the bank will be slow sending paperwork but then closing would be pushed to another day I believe. I use to work at the law firm Carney Badley Spellman in Seattle. I would trust any of the their attorneys, but I know Tana Materi lives on Bainbridge. she might want to call them.
Good luck
thank you crazy!!! Yes, bainbridge island is where they are buying....
I will forward that info to her.....
