Update: Costco photo dilemma

Just got off the phone with the Costco Photo customer service center for the 4th time!!  They finally said that they can't find ANYTHING on that account and to just start a new account.  When I said, "So you just lost all my photos from the past 5 years???" she said "Sorry for the inconvenience."

I don't even know what to do now.  I'm so mad.  It's not like I didn't use that account for a year (they'll delete it after a year).  It shows that I ordered photos in the last couple months.  

I have a lot of the pictures stored on my computer but not all the random ones from years ago.

  • I just checked mine and it says I have no pictures on there either. Weird. I don't mind much because I only download the ones that I am going to print but that is strange. Note to self do not leave pictures you want lost at costcos website.
  • I wonder if you wanted to order some pictures (Spend money) If they would magicly find them?

    I wouldn't give up.  See if you can call Costco corporate and talk to someone there.  They have to have this problem more than just with you.

  • Here's sending you tons of hugs because that just plain sucks!  I'm so frustrated at Costco for you!  And you would think that they would try to give you some sort of compensation, like a gift card or something.

    This just looks like a stock message from customer service.  You totally need to be dealing with someone higher up than this or someone from corporate like a PP recommended. I wouldn't give up yet - there has to be some kind of reasonable resolution to this!

    In the meantime, I'd walk in there and raise hell. I'd talk to their manager, then the store manager then the district manager. No joke. You should be reimbursed PLUS some.

  • DH is calling now.  I can't stop crying enough to talk to someone.  Uggggg!!!  Can I just go back to bed and start today over.
  • That sucks Ashley!! They should have to compensate you in some way! Although, I don't know what they could do that would make up for losing 5 years worth of pictures.

  • The annoying part is that there's probably a software developer sitting somewhere who could easily find your pictures for you.  It's just getting to that person in a behemoth like Costco that's the hard part.

    MMM a churro sounds good. But not good enough to solve THIS problem :-/

    I would definitely be down there in person demanding to speak to the store manager with your DH in tow. It is amazing how they react when you BOTH go in & go crazy on them, been there, done that!

  • That really sucks....  I'm so sorry.    Do you have most of them printed at all at least?  Maybe they could rescan them in or something?

    Sites like these are not designed to be your photo storage location, so I'm sure they think you probably have them somewhere else.  But I'm certain that LOTS of people use them for their photo storage... so they should make it much more clear that they don't guarantee your files' safety.  I'm not even sure they actually store the full resolution photos when you upload just for printing 4x6's. 

    We're insane about backing up here.  DH backs up to a separate hard drive and to some on line file storage location too.   I'd be so sad if we lost our photos.   I hope you or your DH can get through to someone and actually talk to a human and see what you can do.  It's GOT to be there somewhere.  It just has to be.   You know they back up their servers.  They should be able to go back to a backup from 2 months ago or whenever you last ordered pics and get your files backed up.   They have to have them.   Keep trying.   And ask for a churro too.  Those things are GOOD.
