Breastfeeding moms~ what is your goal?

How long would you like to breastfeed for?

Re: Breastfeeding moms~ what is your goal?

  • I am aiming to BF for 12 months, but I would be happy with 9.  I imagine when I go back to work at 5.5 months, it will become pretty dificult.

  • I plan to BF until she is 12 months.
  • I would love to breastfeed until Jacob is 11 months, I'll be going back to work then and I'd rather not be pumping.  Ideally, I could wean him to morning and evening feedings.

  • My goal is 6 months... it has been harder since I came back to month at 3 months.  I don't like pumping and starting at the beginning of October it is going to be even harder to pump, so I have to keep myself geared up to reach my goal.

  • it's been harder since i've been back at work so for now i'm saying 6 months---but before then we may wean down to formula during day and BF morning/night so that i don't have to pump at work...

  • It was 3 months... I made and now I'm going to go for 6! It would be great to go 12 though.
  • I will be happy with 6 months but want to try for 12. I will be pumping when I go back to work in a month so we'll see how that goes.

  • 12 months .... I'm going back to work next week so hopefully my supply keeps up

  • 1 year.  I definitely want to wean before we have #2
  • 12 months. But I go back to work three days a week next week so we'll see how pumping goes. . .

  • My goal is a year.  I'm working 3 days a week, so it feels pretty doable to me.

  • My first goal is 6 months and then I'll re-evaluate. My ultimate goal is a year. I'm back at work and so far pumping hasn't been an issue but I'm trying not to put too much pressure on myself. If I stop pumping at 6 months I would still like to nurse him at night.

  • At least a year. I hope she'll wean herself after her first birthday -- I don't plan to force it on her.

  • I'll nurse for a year and then I'll probably start the weaning process.  So it will be some time (a couple of months, maybe?) after that when he no longer gets BM.
  • I'm EP and am taking it 1 day at a time.  :-) I have no goals because the idea of pumping for 15 months straight scares me to death.
  • 12-18 months

  • I EP and my original goal was 3 months, but I am there and things are still going well. My new goal is the end of the year, so when DD is over 6 months. I'd love to get to 1 year if I can!!

Will baby #3 be another girl?

  • 12 months min.  I pumped at work for DD for that long, and I'd love to do the same for DS.

  • My current goal is 6 months.  I'd love to make it to a year, but I don't think it's very realistic in my situation.

  • My original goal was 6 months or whenever she got teeth. It's going well but now I think I'm just kind of playing it by ear.
  • 1 year

  • as long as i can...and he wants. hopeful to hit 12 months

ive had low supply and have done the reglan/oatmeal/mothersmilk/powerpumping/nursingweekend etc etc routine since the beginning and I supplement 1-2 bottles a day at daycare but nurse in the morning and at night (or whenever we are together).

i went back to work at 8 weeks, and have pumped during the day, 5 days a week ever since.  Every couple of weeks it gets hard and I have to recommit myself to pumping. I enjoy nursing and I will miss that bonding time when its over.

  • My goal is 2 months.  Might go to 3.

It'll be too hard to pump with my work schedule.

  • My original goal was 6 months and now that I'm there, I've decided to go until 12 months.  I have a crazy oversupply issue though and have almost a 3 month supply of frozen BM, so I might wean him at 10 months and just use my frozen stash.

  • I hope to continue to BF until DS is 1 year.  He is now getting cereal and 1 bottle of formula a day...but I am still mainly BFing and hope to continue.
  • At least 6 months, but ideally a year.  At 6 months I'll decide whether I want to head back to work or not.  If I stay at home then I'd like to continue for a year.  If I head back to work then hopefully I'll have enough BM stored up to keep him on BM for a few more months.
  • I plan to BF for 8 months and then use my freezer stash to get us to a year (I am going back to work at 8 months).
