I am reading The Fertility Diet, and one of the most interesting things I learned was to include 1-2 servings of full fat dairy in your diet daily to help with ovulation.
The study is that the process for making skim and low-fat milk and milk products removes the estrogen and other good hormones from the milk. In fact, it increases the hormones similar in breastfeeding women and too much skim/low fat dairy can contribute to ovulatory disfunction.
Anyone follow this idea or read the book?
What is your favorite full fat diary product?
I could only find one brand of full fat yogurt, and can't stomache a glass of whole milk. I do love cheese, and have added full fat cheese sticks to the mix.
Ice cream is an option, but I have a portion control problem.
Thoughts?
Re: Full Fat Dairy?
Wow, that sucks. I have a hard time with full fat dairy...you're right - except cheese and ice cream.
I generally get the nonfat greek yogurt because it's so thick and creamy (heh heh), I bet the full fat version is even more delicious. I usually get the Chobani because it's cheaper than Fage.
I also get coffee milk (a RI thing) from a local dairy. There, the flavored milk is always whole milk, and I can drink it that way. Would chocolate or strawberry syrup help you drink a glass of whole milk?
ETA: or use whole milk/yogurt in a smoothie?
It took 5 failed IUIs and a failed IVF, but our FET worked!
My pregnancy after Infertility Blog
Our baby girl was born on April 27, 2011!
I know... so the book gave the example of a 1/2 cup serving of ice creak twice a week. This means a pint will last two weeks.
SOO not happening here, a pint lasts one evening at times.
Trying to be healthier overall, so looking for other non-ice cream ideas.
Should I have a girl, I vow to teach her healthy eating early on so she never has mamma's demons!
Hmmm... I like the smmothie idea. I am a skim milk girl since childhood, so the whole milk straight (or with syrup) is a texture problem for me.
I second this.
But Dryers has come up with an ice cream, no sugar and half the fat and it is actually very good. It's in a blue container. I am super picky about the taste of diet anything and this one is hard to tell the difference, even the after taste.

Mmmmm.. looks yummy!
But see, the Half the Fat thing is the problem. I'm looking for hard core, no kidding, nothing light dairy product. Made with whole milk. So I could go for Ben and Jerry's, but then I'd gain MORE weight than going off BCP has already blessed me with.
I have done a lot of research in my quest to prepare my body for TTC and I have found that eating habits are one of the most important changes I need to make. Avoiding modified foods makes perfect sense to me. If you think about it, most of the foods we eat today have only been around for a few decades. Our bodies (evolutionarily) have not had adequate time to adjust to the effects they may be having on us and our fertility. Plenty of researchers are trying to link modified foods to declining fertility rates. Time will tell...
That being said, I have moved to organic dairy products, cut out artificial sweeteners, and generally ask myself (whenever I food shop) "is this product found, or made of products found, in nature?"
Dairy suggestions: Try whole chocolate milk. If you can't stomach whole milk period, at least buy organic 2% milk (unfortunately, it's more expensive). Put it in your coffee (if you haven't cut out caffeine completely). Or just keep trying to find ways to "sneak it in" without making yourself gag
Good luck!
