3rd Trimester

Innocent question leads to total breakdown....

I talked to my dad this morning, everything was fine, and then he asked me, "So, are you ready?"

I got off the phone quickly and cried for about half an hour.  Yes, technically, we have all the stuff we need to keep a baby alive, but with 10 days to go (scheduled c/s) the panic is setting in.  We will have a baby next Friday.

::runs screaming around the room::

Thankfully DH is zen-like this morning.

  • My poor dad. I would have broken down on him right there on the phone. Then he would have been all flustered and uncomfortable. Good for you for getting off the phone first.

  • Middle of induction, this was me-- hadn't seen dad in a few months due to him living in another state, had a meltdown. Hang in there...if you aren't totally prepared, it will fall into place once you and baby are home.
  • Wow I wouldn't know what to do with my self if I knew baby was coming in 10 days. Try to mellow out with DH and enjoy the final days of alone time.

  • I have these moments too. When I realize that I'll have my baby by the weekend it really dawns on me that I have no idea what to do with a newborn. We've read books, taken classes, but still.... no real life experience.

    I'm going to pretend that people who don't have these little mini breakdowns aren't normal and we are completely justified in being freaked out :).
