Babies: 0 - 3 Months

7 weeks and still in pain...Anyone else go this long?

I had my 6th week checkup last week, and my Dr. told me I still had a few centimeters to heal (not even sure what that means) but that everything looked good and I don't need to come back again until my regular checkup 6 months from now. She gave me the "it's up to you" type of go ahead as far as getting back in the saddle with DH goes. (I had 2 second degree tears after I had DS)

The problem is, although I feel a lot better, I still have pain down there if anything touches me and I think a little light bleeding now and then, and if I've been sitting for a long time it kind of hurts and feels numb when I stand up. (My Dr. knows all this and has pretty much said it's normal but to come back if the pain gets worse)

I feel like in other posts I've read most people have said they were completely healed from their tears and such within a few weeks. So my question is...what the heck? Anyone else go this long?

Also I'm scared to death to have sex yet, but DH is going bonkers. I feel like I SHOULD be, but I just can't bring myself to do it. What would you do? Did you wait until you felt perfect before having sex again, or did you just put up with a little pain for a while?

Hope this wasn't too TMI...

  • i had intense tearing. (4th degree, both labias, uterine wall) I still had pain to the touch all the way until the 8th week. I did try to have sex with DH during the 7th week tho because we both just wanted to try. It did hurt at first going in but once we got going, it was fine. If you feel that you will be fine, then just try. BUT, it is going to hurt and it may not feel "good" for quite some time. Just use lots of lube and drink some wine! ;)

  • I still had some tenderness until I was about 7 weeks and we waited until I was about 8 weeks PP to have sex...it hurt so I was glad we waited. I also had a second degree tear.
  • I'm still hurting too. I have my 6 week appt today and I'm still bleeding! Poor DH, I don't think he'll be getting any soon!

  • At 7 weeks i was more sore then I had been before. When I went to have my IUD inseted I mentioned it to my OB he checked & said I had some granulation (which is like scabbing.healing I think) and that the knot of the stitches was nto totally disolved. He said "you haven't tried to have sex yet have you" which I thought was strange since the week befor ehe said when you feel ready. Anyways we hadn't I was too sore. Its starting to get a bit better but every now & then its uncomfy, it gets esp sore/burns when I pee but just in that one spot where I tore (I know its the spot because the OB touched it and I winced and said yes it hurts THERE! he said its right where I tore) I only had a 1 degree with 3 stitches! So I don't think its totally abnormal I think as it heals it gets worse for a bit.
