I just wanted to say thanks to all you ladies for your help the other day with my BFing slump. Since then my milk has come in (the girls are HUGE now!) and Ryder is doing so well at nursing. He doesn't have the crying spells at night that he was having before. I think these were because poor guy was hungry but not getting anything really. I was even able to pump 2 oz yesterday and 4 oz today. Having the extra milk was nice when he started crying but I had I wanted to use the bathroom or get some food because then DH just stepped in and fed him. Made them bond a little more, so it was nice!
Thanks again though ladies for assuring me things would go fine. I knew they would, but it really always helps to talk to all of you and get your support.
Re: BFing is going better now!
I'm glad things are going well now...
If at all possible - try to stay away from the bottles for 2 more weeks... that will really help regulate and stabilize your supply. Have DH get you something to eat while you nurse. Or go to the store and get a bunch of muffins and protein bars so you have things you can eat easily... after a few weeks, your supply will be well established and you can be more flexible...
I'm glad to hear things are improving!! You've already overcome the first hurdle - congrats. :-)
We gave DS2 a bottle at about 3 weeks and have continued to give periodic bottles. But at first I would always pump at the same time DS was getting a bottle. To maintain my supply. Now I can miss a feeding here and there and all is well. But at first you really have to be careful.
Yay!
Oh, and as far as getting stuff to eat, I LIVED off of meal replacement shakes. Those were a life-saver.
And chocolate.
