In a earlier post today, two people mentioned "Sophie the Giraffe". Since I didn't know what it was, I looked it up on Amazon. I couldn't believe it but there are 50+ customer photos of babies with this
giraffe (and in most of the pictures, the babies have it in their mouth). Is it really that great? DD has definitely entered the "oral" stage and loves putting her hands in her mouth so I'm considering getting it even though DH would cringe at spending $20 on a teether.
Re: Sophie the giraffe teether
Haa haa, I registered for it because it was one of the top selling baby items on Amazon but alas did not get it. I did, however, get Lamaze Jacques the Peacock.
It's basically a glorified dog toy, but babies seem to love it. I think that one reason is that the legs and neck are skinny enough that a small baby hand can wrap around them. Mikey doesn't so much use his as a teether as much as he just plays with it. I mean, he does put the giraffe in his mouth and chew on its foot or ears occasionally, but more often, I'll just see him holding it, looking at it and making it squeak. We mainly keep it in the car seat as something extra to keep him occupied in the stroller or in the car.

That's a great idea!
My son loves his Sophie so much that he sleeps with her. Once, we couldn't find her before he went to bed and wouldn't go to sleep, so I went on a Sophie search, lol.
My H actually bought ours in France. He was there on business and I told him he had to go find one as a souvenir, lol.
The thing I like about Sophie is that she's made of natural rubber, unlike other teethers.
Also, two tips in case you get it:
Don't run it through the dishwasher if you want it to still squeak.
Put it in the freezer to make it an extra yummy teething treat!
Warner has a frightening love of Sophie.....like "I love you and now I will devour you! Bwahahaha!!"
We actually have to limit his Sophie time because I can only take so much of the squeaking and sometimes I think he gags himself on the legs and, trust me, that kid doesn't need anything to help him spit up more.
But it's nice because unlike his plush toys (see post below) it is really easy to clean.
(and I think Warner might be teething...I'll have to try putting Sophie in the freezer for him)
ETA: Yep, he's sleeping with Sophie in his mouth, lol.
