New dad gift ideas?

I'd like to get DH a "new dad" gift when baby arrives. Any ideas?

  • I'm making mine a baby.

  • Perhaps a man diaper bag...does he really deserve a gift?

My DH asked me what I was going to get him. I laughed so hard I almost peed my pants. As though men deserve material gifts after their wives have just given birth...isn't a healthy child enough? sorry my bitterness kicked in early this morning.

  • I don't know what type of work your DH does but how about a digital picture frame that he can download picutres of your littleone and have at work.
  • I am giving my DH a new watch ... he's been looking at a Kenneth Cole watch for awhile now and I thought it would be nice to have a "new dad" gift that he could show off. Well, I guess he'll have that PLUS his daughter!
  • Deserve? lol well he helped make my pregnancy the most enjoyable it could be so yes- I guess "deserve" is appropriate. I got to have the baby with me everyday for the past 9 months and I want him to feel as much a part of this as me and I want him to know how thankful I am that he bent over backwards for me during the pregnancy.

  • This might just be me, but I wasn't planning on getting him anything.  Actually, when we went to a breastfeeding class the instructor suggested that your husband or significant other get a bracelet for the women after the baby is born.  One that you can take on and off easily.  You're supposed to switch it to the oposite wrist everytime you breastfeed, because you're supposed to alternate which breast they feed out of.  I thought that was a good way to remember, plus you get a nice bracelet!
  • I bought my DH a keychain that says "My dad, My hero" from Things remembered, a small book about dads and daughters and the fatherhood book by billy crystal.  I packed it in the bottom of the diaper bag and after everyone left the day my DD was born I gave it to him.  He cried:)  I do not know what I will be getting him this time around but it will sure be something from both his DD, me and his newest DD.  I think men deserve something special too; my DH does so much for me that I could not go without soing something for him.
  • I'm not really getting anything for DH for when she arrives, but his birthday is 2 weeks after my due date, so I'll be getting him a gift from LO. He has to wear a suit everyday to work, so I found these cufflinks that can be engraved and open up like a locket where I will put LO's pictures inside. I know most guys don't really wear cufflinks anymore, but my DH does everyday, so I know he'll love them!
  • Maybe something small that catches my eye if i'm out and about.  His birthday is the 10th and she's a scheduled C section for the 2nd.  He's gonna think his daughter is super cool cuz she got him a gift certificate for one of those "gentlemans salons" where it's all hot chicks, big screens, pool tables and cigars.  They'll clean him up all nice and spiffy.....they cut his hair, do his eyebrows etc.  He got me the new Canon T1i last week so i can get it kinda figrued out before the baby gets here.
