Thoughts & Prayers Please

Hey ya'll. Just hopin' I can possibly get some good vibes from ya'll.  We had to rush Anthony to the hospital last night because his bilirubin count came back high at his doctor's appointment yesterday. He clocked in at 19.3; when we got him to the hospital and they took it again it had gone down to 17.2..  He's been under the Bili-Lite for about 9 hours or so and I swear he looks better.  Kind thoughts and prayers are most welcome!

  • ((hugs))

That is so hard to go through.  Maddie's numbers were 17 when she got admitted, but after a night under the lamp they were down to 10, and now she is healthy as can be.  It's a rough night not being able to hold LO, but I really think it's a lot worse for us than it is for them all nice and warm under there.

    T&P going out to you!

It's pretty much this exactly!  They missed the first IV site and had to try again. He's laying there screaming bloody murder and I can only hold him enough to bring him back to the crib and put him under the light.  It took a really long time to get him to calm down and relax, and I couldn't really hold him at all while trying to get him to calm down. He made himself sick a few times he was so upset (understandably). I felt so bad.  Hopefully we will be discharged here soon and I can spend the whole day cuddling him.

  • We were in the same boat with our LO. The day we were suppose to be discharged they took her bilirubin count and it was 18. Then they drew blood and it was 16. She had to spend 24 hours under the bili-lights. After the 24 hours were up, her count dropped to 10 and we were able to go home. Some of the things that we had to do different was feed her formula. My milk supply never came until day 6 so when I was breast feeding her she never got much of anything. Which in turn cause her to not pee or poop all that much and she couldn't get rid of the extra red blood cells. The light therapy will work wonders and everything will be fine. Good luck!!!

It's truly amazing what light can do!  We knew he was a little jaundice leaving the hospital and had been feeding him formula. I think I will stick to formula now, I don't want to mess with anything.  Anywho, DH and I have been wanting to take him outside for a walk or something and get him some sun because we knew that would help, but it has been raining or cloudy here since Thursday.  Today is sunny, it seems, but he's already got his inside sun!
