Names to similar?

I was looking on some advice-I have always loved the name Isabell but one of my nieces is named annabella, is that to similar? TIA...

Re: Names to similar?

  • I don't think it's too similar.

  • I think it's fine!  I have a niece named Caleigh with another named Allie on the way.  I think it's cute!
  • Nope! However my DW's cousin have recently started having children, and within two years of each other we have:

    Lucy, Lizzy, Lainey, Lily, Lacey.

Only two come from the same mother. It's a pain for me to keep it all together.

  • Are you going to spell it that way? It looks unfinished; should be Isabelle. I think it is definitely similar to Anabella, but not bad since they are not sibs.

  • Yes, they are too (notice, the spelling) similar, IMHO.
  • If you were talking about sisters, then yes, I'd say they're too similar, but for cousins, I think it's fine.

I also agree about the spelling. I'd do Isabel or Isabelle.

  • For sibs, I'd say keep looking. For cousins though, I think it's perfectly fine.
  • not too similar for cousins.
  • No, not too similar for cousins.
  • Since they're cousins, I think it's fine. I agree with pps about the Isabel or Isabelle spelling though.

Sorry I missed spelled it-Isabelle is how I would want it. Pregnancy brain has completely messed up my spelling these days.
  • I don't think they are too alike!
  • I don't think so.

I've never seen that spelling... I like either Isabel, Isobel or Isabelle.

  • It is fine, but I agree about the spelling unless you have some reason for the bell?
  • I think if it were Isabella it would be similar to Annabella but since they aren't siblings, I don't think it matters.

  • It kinda is too similar. If I was Annabella's mom, I might not like that too much but she may be a more easy-going person and won't mind.

She's not-good point. I think I need to scrap it!

  • Unless you live on the same block or see each other multiple times a week, I wouldn't even give it a thought.

Also, unless you're both planning on using Bella as a nickname, I don't see the big deal at all.

I wouldn't even make the connection unless you brought it up.  We have Nick and Nicole, Patrick and Patricia, Laney and Elaine, Lindsey and Linda, Julie and Julia.  Except for Julie and Julia, I don't think I've heard a single comment on the similarity of any of those names.  And we have some pretty catty people in our family!
