daily multivitamin for baby

Our pediatrician just recommended that our 2 month old start a daily multivitamin (Polysivol) and he hates it!  We tried squirting the daily dose in his mouth and he spit it out and we've tried mixing it in a bottle of breastmilk and he won't take the bottle.  I'm afraid he'll start refusing all bottles.  Does anyone have any suggestions or advice on what I can do to get him to take it?

  • Have you tried Tri-Vi-Sol? My ped. said most people said it tastes better. I think it tastes like nyquil and death, but my baby drinks it right down!

  • Why does he need it? I've heard of this but I'm wondering what the point is? Unless you are breastfeeding but not eating well and not taking your own vitamins?

Our ped said iron and vit. D doesn't get transferred through breast milk so that's why DS needs a vitamin.  I'm a bit skeptical though, how long have women been BFing for without giving LO vitamins?  At our last appointment she asked if he was getting the Tri-vi-sol and I told her I haven't gotten it.  She's pushing it but I'm doing my own research.

  • That's what our ped said too re: BFing.  I'm going to look up the difference between Poly-vi-sol and Tri-vi-sol.  Do you squirt it in your LO's mouth or give it with a bottle?
