I have to have a full bladder for mine too. My sister didn't. We have different doctors though. It seems different offices have different opinions on that. I just drink enough to where I need to pee by the time we get there. Just make sure you drink enough to have a full bladder, it doesn't need to be full for an hour beforehand like they sometimes say. That's just torture!

Those were my thoughts as well, but she specifically told me to drink 32 oz before and not to pee. She said I'd be able to use the bathroom about halfway through.
My u/s is tomorrow morning and I was also told to drink 32oz before. I have no idea how I'm actually going to be able to hold that much in without going to the bathroom before the scan. It'll be interesting.
I was told this. I drank 21 before my last u/s and was about to burst! I have the big u/s Saturday and they told me to make sure to drink 32 before coming in.
Has anyone else been told this? This seems like a lot of water to drink and not be able to use the bathroom!
I was told 1 hour before to empyt my bladder and then drink 32 oz. over that hour. I think it seems like a lot too, luckily my drs. office assured me the u/s tech gets you right in and then you can go to the restroom right away. This better be the case or she may have a real mess to clean up!
I asked my sis the same question, she's an ultrasound tech, and she said it is just for doctor's use. Mainly for measurements of the uterus, placenta, ect. I still have to when I have official ultrasounds, but I go in about once a month just to play around, see the baby, hear the heart beat, and all comes out well.
Mine said around 16oz when I had mine. I ended up drinking 33oz and had a really FULL bladder and it hurt, but the pictures came out so clear and nice! When I was looking at the monitor I totally forgot I had to pee and that it hurt.

That's an insane amount. I drank 20 oz. before my 13-week ultrasound and my bladder was too full, according to the tech. She had me pee some of it out because it was getting in the way of my uterus and making it harder for her to take measurements. As long as you have to pee when you get there (but aren't dying), you should be fine.

Re: 32 oz before U/S
I wouldn't worry about it either. I've peed before all of my ultrasounds for the protein test and we've always been able to see the baby.
My doc said a regular bottle of water would be fine, 16-20 oz right before. I don't know if I could do 32 and not pee everywhere!

My doctor's office told me to drink 32 oz as well. They said it's so there are no shadows and they get a clear window of the baby.
I'm with everyone though, I am thinking I will be VERY uncomfortable with the full bladder.
