How are you organizing clothes??

I finally bought the laundry soap to wash LO clothes but I have no idea how to organize them back into her closet and dresser. Mostly dresser. Are you doing onsies by size? Or how are you doing it?

Re: How are you organizing clothes??

  • I'm doing them by size at this point. When she starts to get bigger then I'll start organizing by type of clothing (sleepers in one drawer, onesies in one drawer, pants in another, etc.).

  • I'm doing onsies by size, unless it came as an outfit then I'm keeping them together with the pants.

  • Yep I'm doing the drawers by sizes. So that we go through all her newborn stuff first and don't have to look for things while she is freaking out on the changing table! LOL! So each drawer is by size!

  • We've organized by type and size.
  • Great Picture!

I am putting the sizes I am not using in rubbermaid tubs - clear with white tops. I do not have a big closet for her but there are a lot of shelves in there. I will make little tags with the size written on it for each box. The tubs are small - like for big boots or shoes.

  • I am hanging outfits (more than one piece), and then each drawer in her dresser is a different size- top drawer is NB with different piles for onesies, pants, sleepers, etc, second drawer is 0-3 and so on... as she grows I will move the clothing up so that the top drawer is always her "I am wearing this now" drawer- also easier because then my husband can't really be confused if he puts clothes away
  • Onsies are all by size, sets are together, gowns and sleepers are by size.
  • Most of our stuff is hanging in the closet... so it was arranged by size.  The few things we have in the dresser are in stacks of what they are (pants, onesies, etc.).  I generally only try to keep the size that DD is wearing at that time in the drawer, then just move things that she outgrows to a Rubbermaid storage box in the closet.

It'll work the same when this one comes... except since they are sharing a dresser, one side will be for #1 and the other will be for #2 (have to separate them so DH is grabbing the correct size for the right child).

  • I inherited (from my sisters and best friend that have 5 boys between them) about 300 outfits ranging from NB to 24 months.  After about 20 loads of laundry, I organized by size and then type (onesies, pants/shorts, full outfit, one piece long pants, etc.)  After that, DH and I got storage bins and only kept stuff through 6 months out.  Everything else found a home in a bin.

This and I've been separating them within the drawers to sleepers or onsies, pants etc just so I have an idea of what I have and know what I need to get.  I've got things like NB and 0-3 in one drawer etc to save space.

  • I have organized by both in drawers to start.  Onesies (plain) and sleepers are in the top drawer and include NB through 0-3.  One piece outfits that are bulky (fleece) are hanging up.  Cotton one-piece outfits are folded.

The second drawer consists of 0-3 and 3-6 outfit separates.  When possible, I've kept the pants with the tops.  I'm sure once we have our shower, I may need to reorganize a bit.

  • Everything's hanging in the closet arranged by size.

  • I have the closet arranged by size and the drawers by type of clothing. Sleepers are in one drawer, pants in another, etc. and then they go from nb-6 months from left to right if that makes sense? Everything 6 months + is in a tote in storage.
