Jury Duty & BFing

Does anybody know if being a nursing Mom is reason enough for an exemption or postponement?

    I'm not sure, but it can't hurt to try it.  I would imagine it would be a good enough reason.

    never occurred to me! if they don't let you get out of it that would suck!

    I would sure hope so, my mom called called for jury duty both times she was pregant and they let her off for just being pregant.

    i believe it is actually. I got something in the mail about confirming my county location for duty but there was a box that said "i am breastfeeding a child" so i think that gets you out of it :)

    Not sure, but I received a questionnaire (not a summons) the day after C was born.  I wrote on there that I'd need a place to pump every 3 hours as a special accomodation.  I haven't received a summons yet and if I do I think I'll try to postpone.

    I googled it quickly - it seems each state has its own rules.

    I think each state is different, but I was supposed to have jury duty tomorrow and they granted me a postponement until after I'm done BFing.

    I would think they would let you off.  They excused me from Jury Duty when it was 6 weeks before my due date.  I just filled out the paperwork and included my doctors name and phone number when I got the notice in the mail.  I would think that being a breastfeeding mom, you would not be expected to show up either, fill out the paperwork and send it in!

    PA doesn't have anything specific on the summons for BFing moms.  I just wrote a letter requesting a postponement so we will see...
