Monday confession

I'm a floor warden for one section of my office. So if we have an emergency (fire, earthquake, etc.), I'm responsible for getting my section to the nearest "safe area".

And I don't want to be. I was the only person willing to do it when I started about a year ago, so I was stuck with it.

It makes me really nervous being responsible for all those people. Like anxiety attack nervous. I've spent the last three days mentally composing an email to our HR person asking if I can get out of it.

I'm not cut out to be a rescuer. I'm a "get the hell out of Dodge"er.

I was a floor warden at my last job and I didn't love it either. It was all different individuals renting space so I would have had to try to round up all these people I didn't know. Thankfully we never had an emergency, but I understand the stress!

I dreamt last night that i was! It was actually a bit of a nightmare. You aren't just being lazy or something, and you've put in a year at it... if it's something that causes that much anxiety, you may not be able to do what needs to be done in an emergency, so it is in their best interest to find a replacement, so i'm sure they'll be supportive.
