When are you having your shower?

My mom is throwing me a shower and is already talking about when and where...I'm due Feb. 22! To be honest, I'm a bit frustrated with the whole idea of having my shower two weeks before my due date. How soon is everyone having their shower? Should I try to have it before Christmas or would that be a complete disaster?

I had mine on Saturday - I was 25 weeks... I felt the same way - wasn't going to be 2 weeks before my due date and trying to participate... I had a blast!

I would suggest having it more than 2 weeks before your due date. My shower will be 9 weeks before my due date. We had a shower for my friend 3 weeks before her due date and she gave birth 2 weeks before her due date.

I would do it around the 2nd week in Jan. I think you won't get a lot of attendees because they will be out of town for the holidays.

I have no idea if I will be having a shower or not. My friends keeps telling me if they throw me one, they want it to be a surprise. If I do, I hope it will be in November sometime before Thanksgiving. That just seems like good timing to me lol. I am due Jan. 11th.

I'm due Jan. 6th and my shower is Oct. 25th - I'll be approx. 30 weeks at that time. I didn't want to wait until November or December for a shower since I didn't want it to interfere with everyone's holiday events. IMO - have your shower whenever you want. There's nothing wrong with having it early.

I doubt that I will be having one at all. This is my 2nd pregnancy and DD is only 3. My mom would throw me one, but she lives in Texas, and I'm in New York. My best friend, though we're the same age...she's still in a college mindset...no job, no responsibility...my SIL threw my last one, which is why I don't think I will have one this time. Plus I'm a SAHM, so there will be no work shower for me as well :-( I soooo love the idea of everyone getting together and celebrating baby. I think that if I don't have a shower, after LO is born, I am going to have a get togther with everyone and have cake and all of that...

My MIL is fighting the rest of the family on it, but they were looking at having my shower between 20-25 weeks (late Oct or sometime in Nov).

I'm due in March with twins. Between the possibility of complications and twins coming early, the holidays and the prospect of a cold, snowy northeast winter - I would rather it be early as I think I'll be able to enjoy it more.

Mine will be at 23 weeks. I am going home for Thanksgiving so my step mom is giving me one then.

I have friends that have talked about giving me one here in the town I live in but I am not really sure.

My shower is at 30 weeks because of the holidays .. my friend had hers yesterday and she is due next week ... she still participated and everything she had a blast but i would think that after 35 weeks is a little close because you never know what you are going to need after the shower so you need time to account for that!

I don't think I'll be having one. I just know we'll get a huge snowstorm either that day or the day before and everyone will cancel. Most of our close friends have small kids and I doubt they'd be all happy about having to drive them 1-2 hours in the middle of winter to be in the same room as 10 other snotty little kids. So we'll just register and hope everyone will be relieved from not having to go anywhere and order stuff online.

I am due Jan 8th so to avoid holiday schedualing conflicts we are doing my shower the 2nd weekend of November. So i guess that would make me...32 weeks i think.

Mine is going to be November 7, so that will make me 32.5 weeks. I agree, it is a hard time of year to make sure it works for everyone.

This weekend, I heard of something called a "Sip and See". which is basically like a meet and greet for the new baby, with an assortment of drinks (and of course foods if you would like). I thought that was a really cute idea for if mom is not having a shower, but would like to have an opportunity for people to meet the baby. It could be as organized as a shower or as laid back as an open house. Just a thought to throw in :0)

I'm due on Feb 9th, I had the same feelings with a shower being so close to my due date if I waited until after the Holidays to be over, so I decided to have it before the Holiday on December 5th.

You are far enough from Christmas where I would suggest waiting until after the holiday hub-bub dies down. Just my two cents though.

Mine is the Sunday before Thanksgiving, I will be 35 weeks then. It was the only time my Mom could do it, and I didn't want it any time after Thanksgiving.

Im having mine on Dec. 5th, so i will be 30 weeks when i have mine!!! My grandmother is also throwing one for the other side of our family but that wont be til January 30th! That leaves 12 days til my due date which is very frustrating to me...

Wow, I think that's cutting it pretty close. As It is, I wanted mine before the holidays, but it seems like the only date that will work for everyone will be 12/6 and I'm due 12/30 and I thought that was super close.....

I'm having two showers because my family is in another state than SO's family. My side will be throwing me a shower Dec. 5th and my other one will be sometime in January. I don't care that it is before Christmas.. hopefully it'll make it jollier!
