just wondering when I might be able to expect more than 3 hours at a time...LO started taking 4oz a feeding so I thought maybe he would sleep 4 hours but he's not.
I don't want to get your hopes up, because this is not the norm at all...but DS was STTN at 3 weeks after we started swaddling him and stopped with the night diaper changes. He came home eating 3oz and already sleeping 3-4 hours. At 2 weeks we moved up to 4oz and he started sleeping 4-5 hours. At 3 weeks I was getting 6 hours. And now I am up to 11.5 hours.
Most babies don't start STTN until at least 6 months (many do not STTN until a year or later). Best of luck to you!
mine started sleeping through the night consistantly around 3 months. And by STTN, I am talking from 9 to at least 5. He was sleeping 9 to 2 for a long time, and then started to go to 3, then 4....now he sleeps 7:30 to 6:30 or 7. I dont know how much he eats, because he is BF. However, if he makes noise during the night, we don't go to him right away. We wait to see if he puts himself back to sleep. And we started doing this around 3 1/2 months because he had discovered his thumb and was able to self-soothe. It is different for every baby!

Ours will be 8 weeks on Wednesday....and he has just recently started to sleep for one 3-4 hour stint at night....that is the most he will do for right now. I am hoping that it will increase soon!
Both my kids slept 5-7 hours at 7w, and then 8 by 9 weeks, 10 hours by 12w. Both also barely made it 3 hours between feedings all day and clustered at bedtime.
And both have had killer 4 month sleep regressions that lasted almost a month and seem worse than newborn phase. LOL.
It really depends on your definition of through the night. My mom thinks 5-6 hours is STTN, I don't lol. Anyways Michaela started sleeping 6 hours at 2-3 weeks. At 10 weeks, she was sleeping from 830 PM-7 AM. THAT is STTN for me.
Your kid is entirely too young for you to be worrying about this. You're going to drive yourself crazy waiting for it to happen if you start obsessing at 2 weeks. He'll STTN when he's ready.
At about 3 months DS started sleeping 4 hour stretches, still waiting for STTN. Now that's all blown out of the water though with our current wakeful situation.
Re: how old when your LO started STTN?
every baby is different.

Ditto.
DD started sleeping about 4 hours around 3 weeks; 6-8 hours around 6-8 weeks and 8-10 hours at 8-10 weeks, and now starting 10+ hours at 11 weeks.

Same.
This. Although once, and only once, did he sleep 8:30-4. It was amazing.
