St. Patty's Day Baby

If you had to have a planned c-section, would you want or not want your baby to be born on St. Patrick's Day? I feel like that would have been so fun as a young adult, always a party on your b-day. But as a mom, I'm like I don't want my kid out there on a dangerous driving holiday celebrating till all hours of the night?! LOL But even if his b-day is the 16th, he'll be out there, and if his b-day is the 18th he'll be out there partying. I mean he'll probably be out there partying anyway, but at least it won't be one of the most dangerous driving holidays of the year. Boy have I changed - LOL

Re: St. Patty's Day Baby

  • I had a friend born on Valentine's Day and she HATED it.

I don't know if St. Patty's day would cause the same feelings, but I would think that a kid would want to feel like there was a celebration for them because it was their special day. I would lean toward the 16th or the 18th. JMO Wink

  • My b-day IS March 16th and I have never been out at all hours of the night partying. I didn't even drink till I was 21 and have never been a heavy drinker. I always IMO wanted my b-day to be on the 17th! My baby is due on the 29th and I think it would cool if 1) my kid and would come a little earlier than later 2) if he/she could be born the 17th than we could have the same birth month, astrological sign but different days! ...............I know very wishful thinking!
  • I would actually like to have my child born on St. Patrick's Day just because of my husband's heritage, he is also named Patrick!  I guess I look at it like you mentioned, they will be partying regardless.  Although I have a feeling it would be worse if their birthday was on the actual holiday!

But my due date is March 21st so more than likely we will miss the date!

  • IMO, you may be thinking too much about this. But maybe I only say that because I could care less about St Patty's day. I'm not a big drinker either. *shrug*

I'd care more if the kid was born on Christmas or something.

  • It's all how you raise the kid, they may be very responsible drinkers. One of my fave b-days was being in Ireland on St. Patricks Day. I was thinking it was the best birthday EVER! and most of all it's not one of those holidays where people can not NOT afford to come to your b-day or get you a gift like Christmas or even one of those holidays that are always family holidays like Easter and Thanksgiving! Hardly anybody gave me the excuse...."my mom said I can't come to you birthday party because it's St. Patricks Day!"
  • I'm Irish, so I'm hoping my baby comes a smidge early and I have a St Patty's Day baby!
  • Our due date is St Patricks Day and I was a little bummed about it.

My husband and I aren't big drinkers, but we both have an irish heritage and I always go all out with corned beef and cabbage with red potatoes.

My brother was born on Christmas Day, I was born on July 6th and my nephew and GFIL were born on July 4th. I really, really don't want a child born on or within days of a holiday. My reason is because I want them to have their own special day and I don't want everyone to be so "busy" when we have a birthday party that we end up celebrating 2 weeks before or after the actual birthday (that's what my brother, myself and now my nephew had to do).

I'm sure our child won't be born on their due date and I'm hoping they miss it by at least a week.
  • I am due March 22 but this baby will be a planned c-section.  DS1 was born on 8-17, DS2 was born 12-17 and my bday is 9-17.  So I want to continue the 17th's.  I don't want it to be on St. Patrick's day but like the fact that all us but DH have the same date of bdays.
  • Livi is a St. Patty's day baby and I planned it that way! She was a scheduled C-sect.

I thought it'd be fun for her when she grew older, plus its not a huge holiday where we come from, but if she chooses to do so, her parties can have a theme.

  • I'm due 3/18...I think it would be fun to have the baby on 3/17. At least they will always have some kind of party on their birthday! Smile

  • My brother/niece/step dad and sister in law all all born on St.Pattys day..so whenmy due date was announced of March 16th, we all laughed! Although I was 2 weeks early with my first, I pray I am early again. I do not want my new baby to share there birthday with 4 of my family members!! lol.

Although they all agree it's a wonderful birthday to have!
