I'm 33 weeks 4 days and was just admittted for an overnight stay. I had early labor with my daughter, but feel a bit scared on this one. Baby is moving around a lot and contractions have not gone away with brethine.
What is the average birth weight at this stage? Anyone know of developmental issues / long term impacts if it comes way too early?
I'm glad I am here and not at home, but still alone and worried. DH is at home with my mom (who is visiting) and 2 year old.
He thought I was being "dramatic" and had worked myself up and actually caused the contractions! Seriously? I was upset, but I think my body just wants to progress...now.
Hugs welcome.
Re: admitted for preterm labor
Awww hun, that is very scary. If getting worked up can cause contractions, I will have had my LO already. I've had several panic attacks during this pregnancy.
You're not at a terrible place to be if baby comes early. I'm not sure about long term impact, you should ask your doctor about that one. Ask to consult with a neonatologist.
Good luck with everything. I hope they can stop labor. I'm sorry your DH is being less than helpful right now.
BIG HUGS!
poor thing! I'm sorry, I would make DH come to the hospital and spend the night with you, it will make you feel better. There aren't very many long term health problems at almost 34 weeks. I think birth weight kinda depends on your LO.
Just have your mom stay with your 2 year old
((hugs))
You poor thing, I'm sorry you're having to deal with this! You may want to try posting over on the preemie's board for some information. They are usually very helpful and kind!
thanks ladies! It really is comforting to know there are other people up now who care! I'm really hopeful that this will pass and I'll be able to go home tomorrow! thanks for all the support!
LOL! Probably so... can DH or Mom bring you something? I'm glad you have your computer at least... help keep your mind off things.
Good luck to you and baby!
I had DD at exactly 34 wks. she was 4lb 10 oz.- and only stayed 2 days longer than I because of jaundice. She had some feeding issues, and I think she may have stayed a tiny bit longer if I wasn't a nurse- staff felt comfortable that I would heed warning signs and bring her back for problems. It was tough, but she did and has done great. Very healthy, very intelligent, and passed her preschool screening earlier than I thought she might.
So- you are close- hang in there. Baby will likely do well even if born very soon. GL!!
You are in my thoughts, my dear. I'd be rather upset also, esp after H thinking its all dramatics and getting worked up. I hope they can get the contrax stopped. If not, I don't see any reason why baby shouldn't be fine with a stay in the NICU. I know a woman who gave birth at 24 weeks with a VERY healthy baby now. Take comfort in him having that extra time to bake.
I can't answer the questions, but I can offer some advice for dealing with H. I'd MAKE him come in and on his way, pick up some Tums and when he gets there, smack him upside the head and tell him that's how we are going to relieve any stresses from now on. Message should be loud and clear for him. GL and hang in there!
