What do you think?

We took DD to a free trial class at Gymboree today.  It was pretty cute, but not as active as I hoped it'd be.  Allison is nuts.  She's a high energy kid to say the least, and she's a monkey.  Hence, why we're hoping to enroll her in a gymnastics type class.  I know it's not necessary, but it's something we'd like to do.  Anyway, we also stopped by a real gymnastics school to check it out too.  They do classes starting at 18 months, which looked awesome (and a little more active).  Gymboree is more expensive, but we could start right away.  They gymnastics school is less expensive but we'd need to wait abotu 4 months to start.  Also, another bonus is that Gymboree has "open gym" days so I could take her by and let her free play on all the equipment at those times too.  WDYT?

Re: What do you think?

  • Does Gymboree have other types of classes that might be more active?  We do Romp n' Roll in Germantown and it is the same kind of thing as Gymboree (open gym time, different classes).  I know Romp n' Roll has a tumbling/music class that sounds like it is great for the high-energy kiddos.  I would go Gymboree just b/c I'm a huge fan of places that you can use all the time and have variety.

  • Enroll in Gymboree now, and put her into the gymnastics school when she is allowed to start?
  • A warning about Gymboree - you have to give them a minimum of a full months notice before you withdrawal from the class so you don't get charged (they basically charge you a month ahead of time).  I learned this the hard way when I injured my shoulder recently.  When I complained, they let me put the class on 'hold' for a $15 fee (which I still think is BS considering it was an injury), but you can only do that twice in a calendar year.  My son was enrolled in the music class and loved it, FWIW.

  • I have a little monkey, too.  At 7 months, she's already climbing onto the back of the couch.

If she keeps this up, I'm going for the real gymnastics.

I think the gymboree type places can be nice - but, I prefer the real thing.

Hey, maybe our girls have a real talent!  Future Olympians!  LOL.  :)

  • You might want to look into Little Gym or My Gym.  Little Gym is more on the gymnastics side and might be what you are looking for.  You can join a class mid session and they will prorate it for you.

  • We did Little Gym as well and they do prorate for joining mid season and if you leave early, they will again prorate your refund which is nice.  In the beginning Maggie just ran around after the opening song but eventually she joined in all the group activities.
