Costco - anyone buy a mattress from them?

Anyone buy a mattress from them (specifically considering the Sealy Waldon or Waterbrook) - what was your experience like? Reviews?

We need to get DS#1 a mattress, but hate buying something we can't test out first - but their prices seem so low, it's tempting.

Re: Costco - anyone buy a mattress from them?

  • I think our mattress is the Sealy from Costco, but I could be wrong b/c I didn't buy it [my MIL likes to buy stuff at Costco and give it to us, but she also buys stuff at Sam's Club too so it could be from there].  We really like it.

  • I've bought 2.  We bought our king sized platform mattress there about 4 years ago and it is wonderful.  I recently bought the Sealy Waterbrook Queen set from there for our guest room and it is also great.  I was a little worried because some of the reviews complained of a chemical sort of smell, but mine was fine.  The first mattress that they shipped me actually had a small smudge on it from where the plastic cover ripped in the delivery truck.  They were actually the ones that pointed it out to me.  Not really a bit deal since I was planning to use a mattress protector anyway, but I still wanted a perfect one since it was new.  They left the damaged one because I wasn't sure if the new one would make it before my guests arrived.  The new one was there within a week and I've received 2 sets of compliments on how comfy it is.

Costco is also great about returns.  When I bought the first king sized mattress from there I originally bought a mattress and box spring set, but felt like it was too high once I got them.  They left me return them, picked them up, and let me pick out a new one with no restocking fees or delivery charges.

  • We bought a memory foam mattress, a Cali King, but only needed a King.  We brought it back (what a pain that was) and they took it with no problem.  So if for some reason you need to return it, I don't see it being a problem.

  • We also bought the Waldon (spelling) in a full size for DD.  We love it- no issues, and they have a great return policy if there are any issues.  It showed $399 online, but in store it was $299- or maybe it was $499 and $399- something like that.
