Random: PP underarm smell?

I have noticed these past couple months that my underarms have really started smelling... weird. Not BO-weird, but more deodorant-smell-weird. I mean, they don't smell like my deodorant exactly, but sort of a sweet smell that is frankly starting to gross me out! I even switched deodorants, and I still smell it!

Has anyone else noticed this? Is this some sort of hormonal/chamical change in my skin? Do I just have weird freaky armpits?

  • I've noticed that I need to use deodorant much more often than before.  I used to just put it on once in the morning and be good all day.  Now I need to reapply at bedtime, if not more often.  It sucks and I hope it goes back to normal soon.

  • Are you breastfeeding?  I am and I have noticed this "problem" also.  I actually changed to the clinical strength deodorant when DS was about 2 months old because I was so tired of this weird smell.  I am attributing it to the breastfeeding and that there is just a lot more moisture going on under my shirt than usual, with the breast milk and baby saliva.  I am hoping it will go away after I am done breastfeeding.

  • Do you happen to be taking Fenugreek to help your milk supply? If so, fenugreek makes your sweat/urine smell like maple syrup so that could be it.

  • YES! It's a sweet smelling. It almost smells like a sweet bread, not yeasty, but that kind of smell. It's rather pungent and honestly, gross. I have to keep deo on all the time now. Even at night. Ick.

  • I don't BF, but I have been sweating more...no sweet smell though.  I wonder if the sweet smell is so that LO knows your scent?

I don't know! I haven't been sweating any more than normal, it's just this smell! haha Even when I get out of the shower, having just scrubbed with soap and a washcloth, I still smell it! Arg!
