I feel so lost on this topic! What are the pros and cons of drop side swings, vs stationary ones? How did you go about choosing? What were your concerns? I don't even know where to start!

The first place I looked was consumer reports. It gave a lot of good info. It did say drop side cribs have the most recalls and the most infant injurys associated with them. On the pro side, they tend to be cheaper. I made sure that the crib we choose was sturdy and had good mattress supports in it.
We went with a convertable crib. Also make sure when you are looking at storage pieces that the drawers do not come all the way out too easily. There needs to be a catch, so that the little one does not pull their dresser drawers on top of them when they are a little older and mobile.

One of the big things I noticed was that the dropside cribs seem to be recalled more often. It wasn't a make or break deal for us though. I would definitely go test out cribs in person and shake them to see which ones you like, then read up on the reviews before you order.
We got a convertible crib, I had heard about drop side recalls etc. ?I honestly didn't do a lot of research, we just went with the convertible it just made sense to us.

We went w/ a convertible crib. All I've heard recently about drop side cribs are all the recalls that they seem to be having. So that helped w/ our decision.
We did alot of research when we were crib shopping. When we narrowed it down to the top 3 it took me 3 wks to decide which one I wanted.

Ditto.
We went to BRU and "played" with all of them until we found one we liked. We payed attention to the looks and sturdiness of it. I did a little research online about it (checked customer reviews) and just went with our instinct. It's also a convertible crib, pic in blog.
We used Baby Bargains as a reference.... also I too recommend going and seeing the crib in person so you can mess with it. I would not buy one where I could not do this. JMO, though.

We have a stationary side crib for our DD. The one thing I would check if you buy this style is that you can reach the bottom of the crib to put the baby in. I'm on the short side, and this was difficult for me. The first crib we had like this was recalled, and the replacement crib was better in that it was shorter and I could more easily reach the bottom.
We currently have it in toddler bed mode, and it is still working well for her. She is going to get a big girl bed in the not-so-far future so that the new baby can use the crib.
If you get a dropside, though I would make sure it was quiet. My sister and mom have dropsides, and my daughter will wake up if you put her in either of their cribs and raise the side.l
