Skin care products??

Does anyone know the skinny on what (if any) skin care products should be avoided during pregnancy?  I was at my mom's today and she mentioned that I might need to avoid some.  I don't have my first appt until Thursday, but I do use Pro-Activ, and I'm worried the Benxoyl Peroxide might not be a good thing.

  • You should avoid benxoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, beta-hydroxy, and retinol.  I  use clearsil morning burst which doesnt contain any of that, it works well.  Also pick up a copy of what to expect when you're expecting, it gives you a very detailed list.

  • I agree with the PP, and just wanted to add that Burt's Bees and Kiss My Face are great brands.  They don't have SLS or PHPs, are much more natural, so I'm using them.  Read this, you might find it interesting:

  • I use Yes To Tomatoes products on my skin and they're amazing.  You can get them at Walmart or Target.   They are 95% organic and are amazingly fair priced.  I actually use all of their products!
  • My OB told me to quit Pro-Activ because of the chemicals in it. Now my face is broken out. But I wear enough makeup to hopefully hide them!

    Definatly ask your OB

  • Your face wash may still be OK to use.  Soaps/washes get rinsed off right away so they don't really absorb much-- I think that the doctors are more worried about lotions/serums that sit on the skin for long periods of time.
