Abbott! I used to work there (as a nurse, not in OB though) and I was so glad to deliver there. It is a great hospital and I had a very good experince. Personally I would not go near Fairview Southdale...

I have heard bad and good things about Fairview. Unfortunately, mainly bad.
We went there for the orientation and felt like they were trying to recruit us to open a bank account or something (there were booths lining the hall, trying to get you to sign up for stuff like a massage, photos, etc.) and they kept talking up c-sections like they were "no biggie." We weren't impressed. That's the only experience I have with the hospital, directly. My OB was from there... We left him, however, because he didn't seem to be too on-board with our plans to try for a drug-free birth. (He was apart of a practice in the hospital, not a direct employee of the hospital, itself.)?
I had a wonderful experience at Fairview Southdale. My delivery nurse was fabulous. I couldn't have an epidural, and she was so supportive through the entire birthing process. And, the nurses on the unit were very helpful with the breastfeeding process. My night nurse sat with me for quite awhile until I found a position that worked well for me and DS. Plus, they recently updated all the rooms, and they are very nice:)
I was at Fairview Southdale and loved it, The nurses were great in delivery and recovery. They were so helpful and supportive and genuinly cared. I took my classes there and went back as a guest couple to share.
I had my baby at Abbott and it was a great experience! My husband and I were a little nervous because it was about a 40 minute drive from our house outside of the city. However, I actually ended up having my baby 5 weeks early and couldn't have asked for better nurses and Doctors. I felt very comfortable there. My friend is also a nurse who helps deliver babies there, and they are great!
