Common sense, or am I wrong?

Say you throw a party that has food (say for child's birthday)...you feed everyone right? Not just the kids?

I never thought it was a question, but someone I am acquainted with feels like they shouldn't have to feed the adults. WDYT?

Re: Common sense, or am I wrong?

  • I feed everyone but no darn party favor bags for the adultsStick out tongue

  • Yes! I always provide food for whomever I'm inviting into my home.

  • Depends on the time of day.  At 5:00, I would not expect to feed adults but would feed kids.  I did feed kids and adults at DD's party, it was from 10-1.
  • I feed everyone. I typically host parties at meal times too to make sure that everyone comes hungry Big Smile

Can I ask why? To me, 5 o'clock is meal time and I would leave a party like that very hungry.

  • To me, if you are "feeding" anyone, then you are probably having  the party during a meal time. If the adults weren't fed and the children were, than what are they suppose to do? Stop at Mcdonalds on the way home (for themselves)? That's ridiculous.

    This.

  • Yes, if we have a party at meal time & there are adults and kids, we feed everyone.  I have never heard of only feeding the kids!  That is very strange, LOL!  The only way I could see not feeding the adults would be if it were just a childrens' party & the adults were just dropping kids off.
  • I always plan to feed everyone who comes...and I always eat when I take DS to parties, as do all the other parents. The kids are still little, though, so I guess it goes without saying that the parents will be there for the whole party.
She's crafty - and she's just my type.
  • I feed everyone.  The only way I wouldn't feed everyone is if the kids were older and expected the adults to drop them off and then leave - i woulnd't be prepared for add'l mouths.
  • definitely feed everyone
  • If adults are there with their kids, you should expect to feed them.
  • Depends on the age...I mean, if it was someone's 10th birthday party, I would feed only the kids.  BUT I'd also expect the adults to leave unless we went somewhere that required a chaperone (like a pool party).

If it were a family type party, like for a 3 year old, it would be no question--you feed everyone there.

This.  I love to host parties and cook/bake so I tend to go overboard on food and have a ton though.  I always want everyone to eat!

  • Feed everyone.  It's rude not to.  We went to a party that was 11-1 and there was no food.  Just a cake.  I thought that was rude too.  If you don't want to feed people have a party from 2-4.

  • Yes, I feed everyone.  And I usually have some more "adultish" food (pasta salad, veggie tray, chicken salad sandwiches) and "kiddy" food (PB&J, goldfish, etc.) but I went to a friend's 3-year-old's party and she thought about not buying the adults' meals.  It was at a chuck-e-cheese type place (but better).  The kids, it turned out, were free so she said she felt guilt not having to pay anything and decided to pay for the adults instead.  I couldn't believe she'd invite everyone there and then ask for the moms to pay for their own lunches (even if it was cheap, crappy pizza).  I was just brought up to feed everyone all the time.  I'm more likely to feed (invite to dinner) random people when they just stop by than most people do when it's planned.  Just what I do.
  • there were a few kids bday parties that we attended that the food was only provided for the kids.....  cake was offered to everyone.

    We feed everyone, always.

  • We always feed everyone.
