If there is so much blood in the urine that you can see it, that person needs to get to an ER ASAP. With a UTI, bladder infection or even kidney infection, the urine might appear brown indicating blood.
Yes! If there is blood, tell her she needs to go to an ER (minor care can do it too) to get on antibiotics asap. I put off going for a UTI once and ended up having a bladder hemorrhage. I was peeing practically straight blood. They thought I was on my period until they cathed me. I had severe back pain with it too.
Yes! I was very pregnant & wiping pink & thought it was just pre-delivery spotting. It took me 3 days to figure out I was actually peeing out blood from a UTI (I had never had one before & didn't have any pain until AFTER I went to the OB). Tell her/him to go in to the Doc/ER!

Thanks girls. I told her to go into Urgent Care today. Hopefully she does. This is not the first day of symptoms for her UTI, but it is the first day of urinating blood.
I have peed straight blood from one...i didn't go to the doctor, either...god..
I also told her to drink lots and lots of Cranberry Juice (or is this just a myth). Did it go away on it's own or did you have antibiotics to take at home?

While drinking cranberry juice can help prevent UTI's (the tannins in the berries are key) it won't help cure it. So, if you're prone to getting UTI's, then drinking cranberry juice can be of some benefit. But drinking it after you actually have a UTI does nothing. So, it's not entirely a myth! ;-)
i had blood showing up when i wiped a few weeks ago - i had a kidney infection... needs to be treated right away with antibiotics. They don't need to do it via IV anymore if the oral meds are working- otherwise will need to go to the ER for IV. they used to admit for 2 nights- thankfully they aren't doing that anymore (at least not at my hospital)

it went away...I was like 19...it was before google was at your fingertips at any given time, and i looked in a homeopathic medicine book and it said to drink baking soda (arm & hammer) in water (works like a dream for the pain..)
at the time I had no idea it would require medicine- and I am shocked to hear that I shouldda gone to the ER-how lucky I am that it went away!!

YUCK! Banking Soda and water? I can't imagine what that would taste like, much less trying to get it down.
Re: Can you bleed with a UTI or bladder infection?
If it's bad, there could be blood in the urine.
