  • I have no personal experience with the k'tan but I am leaning towards getting this for Charlotte.  I have only used the Hotsling in the past b/c Ava loved being in it, but Charlotte doesn't.  She likes me to hold her facing forward or against my chest rather than cradle style like Ava liked, and it seems to me that the k'tan would work well for this.  I've seen it recommended quite a bit.

  • I have a babyhawk and I like it a lot.  You can wear it on your front with baby facing you or on your back, but not until 6 months.  It can be used with newborns up to maybe 40lbs or so I think.  I haven't had it long, so I didn't get to use it when DS was little, but it works well right now and he's 20+ lbs.  We took it to the zoo the other day and DH and I were both really comfortable wearing him.  I prefer wearing him on my front and so does DS.

I think it will work well when baby #2 comes along, but I'm thinking I'm going to get a moby as well.  I've just heard such great things about them, and I think babywearing is going to be much more important and necessary when I have a newborn and toddler running around..

  • I have the Moby and love it.  I think I will still be able to wear Charlotte in it for months to come.  It is a little tricky to learn how to tie, but once you get the hang of it you will love it.

  • I lurve my k'tan!!!!! I could bring it over and let you see how it works if you want to try it out before you buy!!! Email me!!
  • I have the Moby and Baby Bjorn.  I use the Moby mostly while we are at home and the Baby Bjorn is easier for when we are out shopping.  I have a baby that wants to be held ALL THE TIME and without one of these carriers I would have lost my mind by now.

I don't know anything about either of the carriers you are looking at though.

  • I loved our Bjorn active carrier--the one with lumbar support.  We used it until Allison was about 14 months old.  She still fit but would rather walk at that point.  It was super easy to use and manly enough for DH to wear.
  • We have a sling that we only used a handful of times when we were traveling through airports and a few times around the house.  I would love to get the k'tan for baby #2!  I love that it is versatile and looks pretty easy to use.  I think that baby wearing is the way to go when you have a toddler to chase after as well as a newborn to tend to.

  • Hmm, I'll have to try the k'tan (taking you up on the offer hannah!) I have a moby and a ring sling now, I am looking for a more easy to use structured type carrier. Example: Putting on the moby at king's island today = dumb.
  • I'm happy to give you a demo! Of course, mine will be too big for you but you can still try it and see how it works!
  • I loved my k'tan. Now that Baby C is walking around I don't know how much he'll like it, but after our trip to the zoo today I'm going to give it a shot to see if it might be good for an outing like that.

  • I had a hotsling that I liked but it wasnt really that adjustable when he got much bigger which wouldve come in handy. Its still really nice for wearing him on my hip and giving me extra support. I have a pattern that I got for whenever we have no 2. It comes with a hotsling style pattern and also a k'tan style sling so I will probably make the latter to have one of each. I love the idea of the k'tan being able to snuggle baby closer to the chest rather than let them be cradled towards the arms
