So my company is doing some more lay-offs. The trouble is that I am not eligible for EI as I just got off maternity leave a month ago and will not have enough hours for another 4 or 5 months. So do I tell my boss I'm pregnant (I'm only 5 weeks) - with the hope that the company will take that into consideration (coupled with the fact I can't collect EI) or do I wait? What's your advice?
Ugh- that's tough. I guess it would depend on how likely it would be that YOU would be laid off in the first place. Honestly, I'd probably keep the pregnancy to myself and hope that I wasn't laid off. Is there work elsewhere if you are laid off?
Legally, they can't treat you differently because of your pregnancy, so I don't know that divulging that little tidbit would change the outcome either.
Sorry you're in this situation- hope it all works out!!
