Mommies of multiples... A friend of mine is just about 31 weeks. She was put on bedrest yesterday after an internal showed she was 3cm and 75% effaced. Her doctors don't think she'll make it much longer than 2 weeks more.

How long were your LOs in the NICU if they were born between 31 and 33 weeks? Any particular issues to look out for? My friend got one steroid shot yesterday and another today, so that's taken care of. The babies are both 4lbs 2oz per the most recent u/s.

My ds was a 33weeker and spent 21 days in NICU as a feeder/grower.

DS was born at 32w6d about 6 hours after my 2nd steroid shot (which was given 6 hours early). he needed the CPAP for a day and the cannula for a couple days. after that, we spent the remainder of our 26 days as a feeder/grower.

Friend had twin boys around 32 weeks. They spent about 3-4 weeks in the NICU.

Gunner breathed "room air" from moment one with a little oxygen. He was monitored for oxygen levels, temperature, and had an IV due to the long term pPROM, just to prevent infection. He had a feeding tube because he was born at 33 weeks, but began taking colostrum on day 2. He was in the NICU for 9 days and Special Care Nursery for 34 as a feeder/grower.

My boys were born at 33w 2d and spent 14 days in the NICU. I had the steroid shot and the booster shot as well and they still had RDS, so please don't think that the shot is a miracle. They were on CPAP for 5 days due to the RDS.
