Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Very flustered @ Day Care

So, earlier today at work I posted the below ling... (It basicaly says "Daycare sent DS home with wrong bottle, then after talking w bumpie, realized...  OMG did he get another moms BM too!!!???"  I called and the assured me not other moms BM was given to DS)

https://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/22698166.aspx

Now, forward fast to today...  DH picks up DS, we were all hanging out at home, DH finally says "Oh, what's all that junk they sent home with the baby?"  I look and freak out!  It was a bowl a lid, and a spoon!  DS doesn't eat anything.  He only has BM!  And DS isn't hungry, and has eat only a few oz in 6 hours!  At this point i'm convinced they fed him food of some sort.  So I was able to catch DC before closing and the girl there called each teacher at home who was with DS today and they assured me he wasn't given food.  Guess all I can do is monitor his poo to see if they are telling any fibs.  It'll all comes out in the end.

Re: Very flustered @ Day Care

  • I used to work in daycare in the infant room. Things can mistakenly be put in the wrong cubby or bag whatever the case may be. You get busy and accidentally put the wrong bottle/ bowl or whatever in the wrong spot, it happens. That being said watching the poop is still probably a good idea just in case.

  • Why do they keep put things in his bag that are not his? Are the bags labeled? I have a unlabeled bag for DS at DC, but it hangs on his hanger under his name and cubby hole. Everyday when I drop DS off I put all of his bottles and food into his cubby and at the end of the day only DS things are in his bag.

I can see this maybe happening once. You called and let them know, but to have it happen again. I would think that after you called them out on it the first time they would make dang sure that never happened again.

Have you talked with the director??

Even though things may be labeled it can happen. Not saying it's okay but really in an infant room things can get really crazy in a second.

DS has a cubby by the door with his name on it.  AND there is a wall by the sink with all the LO's names on a hook, they hang plastic bags on the hook and put the dirty dishes in the bag when they rinse them.

I haven't thought about calling the director, but that will be the next step.  I'll talk to the lead about it first, I'll take a fresh peak at their system.  Stick my nose in and see if I can figure out a way to fix the problem.  But, the dish situation isn't my concern really.  It's really the idea that they could have given DS food!  We are not ready for LO to have solids yet.  And, when we are ready, I want to be the first to feed him!

I am not saying that it cant happen, but just because they are in the infant room does mean it is going to happen more often. This has never happened to DS but it does not mean it wont, but twice in a row? come on.?

To the OP have you thought about labeling his bottles? I bought rubber name bands from InchBug and put them on DS bottles. Maybe you could also write his name on his bag if it is not already on their. ?

All his bottles are all labeled, and the stuff I recieved all had other names labled on it as well  (DS's label from sharpies, I ordered the Inchbug labels too thanks to bumpie advice! they are in the mail, should get them Tuesday.  Excited about that.)

In any event, I truly hope that your LO didn't receive another child's BM or food. Keep us updated if you find anything out. GL :)

    LOL ;)

  • That would be awful if he was fed something he shouldn't have been and I hope that's not the case. I also work in an infant room and just wanted to say it is really easy to confuse a baby's things or misplace them than it is to sit in front of a baby and feed them for the first time - it should have dawned on them... anyway I hope you get it sorted out and only bring home your child's, less alarming, things in the future.
