allergic reaction on my eyelids?

My eyelids feel dry, chapped like, and they are burning.  I put Eucerin on them and that relieved some of the burning.  I just can't figure out what did it.  I have been using the same eye cream for months so I wouldn't think that would cause it.  The only eye makeup I wear is mascara.  Has anyone ever had this happen and what did you do?

  • Do you think maybe the eye cream went bad?

  • It is possible to become allergic to something you've always used.  I did that with deoderant.  I've used the same for years and years and I put it on one time and my underarms just started burning.  I was at work so couldn't very wash my armpits.  Once I got home I took a shower and I had a really red raised rash.  The only think I could think of was the deoderant although I was wearing a new top and hadn't washed it first.  I tired the deoderant again after about a week (took that long to clear it up) and sure enough I broke out again...and it the itching drove me nuts.  I can't use that brand anymore :0(
  • I don't think so.  It is clinique and I just bought it a few months ago.
  • Is it red,  slightly raised with dry, flaking, chapped skin on it? It might be psoriasis. I have this(mostly on my scalp and hairline) but the first time I had an inflammation, it was on my eyelids. Try hydracortisone cream; that should help relieve the irritation and make it go away.
