Sorry ladies, but I don't have any experience with it...
I posted below about my sister taking the 1 hour GD test (no fasting) and her levels came back at a 137. Not high enough for the OB to do any further testing, but that still seems AWFULLY high to me.
I'm thinking of recommending to her that she put herself on a diet for women with GD, even if she modifies it slightly since she doesn't necessarily have GD. Obviously we're not medical experts, but I don't see how this could be a harmful suggestion.
Thoughts? I'm worried about her and she's INCREDIBLY stubborn.
Re: OK, so another GD question....
Her blood sugar normally runs like a 92....it just scares me
she tends to not take care of herself sometimes....thanks, though! I guess I'll keep my mouth shut!
If the doctors aren't concerned then you should not be either.
126 is the cutoff for normal blood glucose ranges (for type 2 diabetes tests, at least). I've worked with diabetic patients who tested in the 300-800 range (nope, not a typo) -- so 137 sounds great to me!
Like PPs have said, if her doctors aren't worried, I wouldn't be either. It's sweet of you to be concerned, but I'm sure she's in excellent medical hands.
