What do you do to workout?

DH and I just joined a gym and I am wondering what I am and am not allowed to do.  I know not to life over 25lbs, but what do I need to keep my heart rate at or under?  If anyone has a regular workout routine that they could post, that would be great!  tia!

Re: What do you do to workout?

  • I hang out on my elliptical for about 20 min 4-5 days a week.  You can tell if youre overdoing it.  I also usually do some light weights

  • With my first pg 6 years ago, I was told to keep my HR below 140 but this time my doctor said that I have to be able to talk while exercising b/c everyone is at a different fitness level.  I keep 140 as a guide but I don't freak out if I go over.  I had been working out before so I think I'm in OK shape.  I usually walk or do a walk/jog interval.
  • with #1 i always kept my HR below 150.  when i asked my doc at that time she didn't really seem concerned at all and didn't say a specific HR.  She basically said to listen to your body.  You will know if you are over doing it.  At first you may seem ok to exercise as you normally would but you may find in time you are tiring out quicker.  Just listen to your body.
  • I was a runner but running kills me right now, it's just too hard, so I go on long walks with the dog, do easy yoga, and work on the yard and flower beds.
  • Workout?  I forgot what working out was when I got my BFP!!! LOL  Hoping to starting again in 2nd tri.  Just too tired and hungry to do so now.

  • I asked my OB if I could continue to jog and she gave me a very enthusiastic yes. And there's no way to jog under 140 hb. She didn't seem concerned at all. Said to work out like I used to and slow down as eeded to - tired, out of breath, etc.

Also encouraged prenatal yoga - a LOT

  • I'd be careful if you are just joining a gym, they say, you are able to continue a current workout but be careful if just starting. it's more to make sure you don't hurt/strain yourself
  • I have heard the same as stated before, keep it under 140. I was a runner, and did a triathlon this summer....but have decided to slow down my cardio. My heart rate will just skyrocket (especially when I'm on the bike) and I can't catch my breath. To me, that means I'm pushing it. Talked with my SIL  and she had the same problem so she did more weight training. My plan is to switch to that and try to swim a few times a week.

  • Doctor said to keep heartrate below 150 and to not lift over 45 pounds.

I do a pregnant and fit class and prenatal yoga which is awesome!
