it bothers me when a HPT reads "can detect hcg up to 5 days before a missed period." what does that even mean, anyway, considering that a woman's LP can average anywhere from 10-16 days? and the hpt gives statistics from a "clinical trial" in regards to accuracy at the various days prior to when the period is due, but i want to know about this clinical trial-- who were the women picked for it? how was the due date for their periods determined-- from charting, or determining O date and LP length?
does anyone else wonder about these kinds of things?
Re: does anyone else wonder about this?
i know! i was thinking it would be more accurate to reference implantation then when AF is due... but of course, the problem is that the majority of women probably don't even know when they O, let alone when there's a possibility of implantation. i guess it's just easier to give women the false sense of hope in regards to when her period is due.
perhaps i should write an angry letter to the HPT companies.
Yep, I find the whole thing confusing. Like why would at 10dpo, only 35% of women get an accurate reading. What makes the difference in that 35% vs the remaining women? What is it based on?
I always wonder this during testing time... I generally wait till AF is due. I don't test before 16dpo. I just know I'm not going to be one of the lucky ones who an early test is accurate for.
YESS!!! Agreed. I was thinking that yesterday when I was picking up a box of the tests.
It definitely bothers me. Like pp said, for some it would be before implantation could even occur!!
