Pregnant after a Loss

How many of you "knew" each other before getting here?

I was on the Pregnancy Loss board for a while and then took a hiatus for about a year.  It seems like several of you guys know each other from TTCAL.  So what are everyone's stories?  I hate not knowing people, lol.  I want to get to know you guys!!

My story: BFP in January 2008 after TTC for one month!  Had a perfect pregnancy up until 12 weeks when I woke up one morning with red blood.  I had not spotted at all my entire pregnancy.  Went in for an emergency ultrasound that morning and discovered a missed m/c at 10 weeks.  I had already announced it to EVERYONE so it was REALLY difficult dealing with people asking me and having to tell them.  Lesson learned!  So that's my story in a nutshell!

Re: How many of you "knew" each other before getting here?

  • I only got to know a coupl people from the miscarriage board (who are now my Facebook friends).

I was diagnosd with a blighted ovum in April, then got pregnant again in May!  This pregnancy has had its share of complications (subchorionic hematoma), but so far, so good!

  • I miscarried my first at 9 weeks at the beginning of January, and got my second BFP in early May. So I was on TTCAL for four months and got to know a bunch of the girls there... I'm so happy that so many of them have made it to SAL already but I wish they were all here!
  • I started on the TTCAL board in late Sept of 08 after having the m/c earlier the same month.  We found out later that year that we were dealing with MFI (severe male factor infertility).  We continued TTC until April of 09, at which point we decided that our best chances were to persue IVF.  I continued on the TTCAL board throughout our IVF journey, although I also posted on the TTTC board during the treatment.  Our 1st IVF cycle worked Smileand so in early July I made the move over here to the SAL board.  I am friends with a lot of the ladies here because I was on the TTCAL board for nearly 10 months - we are all at different stages in our pregnancy and I still have a few friends on the TTCAL board... savings seats for them over here!

  • There are a several girls who joined the mc/pl board the same time I did, and we all seemed to move to TTCAL around the same time. I was on TTCAL from Feb to June, so made some great friends and got to know them even better on FB!

I got my first BFP on Dec 6, 2008. 7 weeks after our wedding! We were 13 weeks when I started spotting brown then red blood, on Jan 31. We found out that we'd lost our LO at 8-9 weeks. D&C on Feb 4th.

  • I got pg easily the first time in May 2008, and my m/c was discovered at my first dr's appt. in late June with a D&C in early July.  I was on TTCAL until I got my BFP in March 09, so I know a lot of the girls here from that.  But there are still some girls over there that were there when I was, and I really want them here!

  • I got Pg my 1st month of TTc in Oct 2007 and saw HB at my 7 week Us. I kept worry about MC since my sister had several and so did my mom so, I decided to talk to the Dr about it and she ran some test and found out I had MTHFR but, told me not to worry with the propper med all would be ok.  When i went back from my 10 Week check up the baby's HB had stopped beating and the fetal pole was starting to break away.  It took me 16 months to Get a confirmed Pg again and than I had CP.   The reason i said confirmed is that I had 2 pg that by the time i made it to the Dr they couldn't confirm if it was Pg since i was already testing negative by that point.   My Re decide it was time to take drastict measures and started my on Follistim injections and i ended up with 7 follicles that month and got pg and so far so good.  I have travled with a lot of the girls from PL, TTAL, TroubleTTC and PAl.

It's nice to have you here!

10/17/2009 - Our Miracle came 10 weeks early. IF,2 MC and 1 Preemie we have our miracle.. Baby Hope 10 weeks 5days was taken from us on Dec 18, 2007. Forever with us and Forever missed. Triplets Lost baby A @ weeks, Lost Baby B at 6 weeks and lost baby Abigail at 14 weeks when she was born to little for this life..... Forever with us ....
  • I knew alot of people from PL and TTCAL combined.  Here's my story...  A year ago we started ttc #3..  We are blessed with 2 beautiful DD's (13 yrs and 4 yrs).  We had a blighted ovum in October last year discovered at 8 wks..  Then got pg again in November.  I carried Grace to 18 wks and lost her due to chorioamnionitis in March 2009.  We have been ttc for 4 months and the 4th cycle worked because now I am here with you wonderful ladies!  I just got my BFP yesterday.

I have met MelissaAB and KateandMark IRL at a STL G2G..  They are both great girls..  I also am anxiously waiting my buddies from TTCAL to join us very soon..  I have met so many great people from both boards!

In my mind you will always be famous for coining the TTCAL phrase "pulling a Mrs. Patterson!" lol... from when you secretly ordered up a p4 check for yourself when you were alone with your chart. Legendary. Smile

  • We started TTC in Oct '07.  Got BFP#1 2/29/08 (leap day!), but had on and off spotting for several weeks.  Went in for u/s at 8weeks and found empty sac.  Confirmed blighted ovum  one week later.  D&C April 2, 2008.  Had to wait 3 1/2 months for AF, the pregnancy and D&C really screwed up my hormoness (I was completely regular before).  Finally got AF after being on prometrium, but still never ovulated on my own.  Started clomid Sept '08.  Got BFP#2 on round 4 of clomid, in Dec '08.  Saw hb at 7 weeks and 9 weeks.  At 9 week u/s, the tech spotted some fluid around the baby's heart, so started being monitored by perinatalogist.  Week 10 u/s, no fetal activity.  D&C Feb 2, testing revealed chromosonal issue 45X, not likely to repeat.  Started to see an RE since I was still Oing late even on clomid.  6th and final round of clomid, combined with acupuncture, I O'd on CD 13 and we got pregnant with this beautiful baby.  Now just taking it one day at a time.

Oh and I've been on since before BFP #1, so I had a stay on PL and TTCAL.  Took a long break after MC#2.

  • We started TTC in Dec 07. Third cycle, got pg. (So BFP was Mar 08). At my first appointment, at around 9 weeks (Apr 08), my doctor said my uterus felt small. My mom said the doctors told her that with me and my brother, so I convinced myself it was fine. Went for the u/s 2 days later and found it was initially a twin pregnancy. One stopped developing at 5w5d, one at 7w5d. I opted to miscarry naturally. It took 2 weeks for the bleeding to start, then I bled on and off, passing clots and finally the sac, over a period of 3 months. It was terrible. So we didn't start TTC again until Sep 08, which is when I joined the TTCAL board. It took 10 cycles to get KU this time and we were just about to start testing with a SA.

  • I found out about my first pregnancy in nov. 08 and at my NT scan in January we found out that we were losing the baby to trisomy 18.  I had a D&E at 13w3d.  I was on the mc/pl board for a while but pretty much went straight to TTCAL.  Iw as on TTCAL from January to July when I got this BFP.  I have met so many wonderful ladies on the boards that it feels like home.  I haven't been able to meet many in real life yet, just Raskind - we found out that we are neighbors!

There are so many wonderful girls on the loss boards... every single one of them deserves to be here on SAL then PAL!  I keep them in my prayers every night!

  • I knew a few people, but I also was on PL and then took a break for a little while.

We started TTC in Feb 2008. We got a BFP in March and then a missed m/c was discovered at 11 weeks 4 days, I had a D&C and then we were told it was a Molar Pregnancy. I was monitored for about 8 months, then given the go ahead to try again in February 2009.  We got a BFP in March and then had a Chemimcal Pregnancy.  The following month we got pregnant and I'm now almost 26 weeks!

  • We started trying to conceive in Dec 08 and were very fortunate to get pg right away.  In early Feb we found out that it was a BO and had a d&c the next day.  I started lurking on TTCAL in the weeks after our loss and then came out of hiding with the return of my cycle in March.  I then stayed there through my BFP in June and started to make the transition to SAL in July.

There are so many wonderful women on both boards that have really helped me with the healing process.  At times I feel a bit more anonymous as I mostly reply to existing posts rather than create my own, but it has been great to see so many familiar faces joining this board.

  • We got our first BFP in July 08 after trying for just about a month maybe 2.  Then things took a turn and I found great support here on the bump.

I began on MC/PL board last September after I found out at 13 weeks that the baby had stopped developing at 9w4d.  I had a D&C on October 1st and found great support from everyone on that board.  I stayed there for a couple months while we were waiting to TTC again.  We started trying in December and I then moved over to TTCAL.  That board was amazing and I stayed there (still lurk every now and again) until I got my second BFP at the end of March.  Each and every board has been great and its been wonderful hearing all the great success people have had and are having that I had first met on MC/PL.

  • I don't know any of the ladies on here personally.  I also don't post much, so I'm not exactly a "regular" - I mostly lurk or only post if I feel I can add any value.

    Our Story:

We got pg with dd in Oct. 05 and weren't even trying, had a very easy non-eventful pregnancy.  So I figured that #2 would come just that easily.

We decided to try for #2 in late summer 2008, and got our BFP on the 2nd cycle trying, in early October - everything seemed fine.  Then I had dark brown spotting after Thanksgiving, and went in for my 12 weeks appointment, and found out that the baby had stopped developing in the 9th week.  Had a D&C the same day (12.1.08).  We were shocked, since dd was so easy of a pregnancy.

AF came back a little over a month, and we began TTC again that cycle, on cycle #2, we became pg again (bfp in 3.09).  Three days later, I had bright red spotting, and it was heavy - lasted about 10 days!  I went in for hcg tests every other day, and had u/s every 10 days.  The baby's heartbeat was good, but the sac was smaller than it should have been.  At 8 weeks, the bleeding started up again (exactly on time for would could have been a period).  Just shy of 10 weeks, we went in for our 4th u/s and found that the baby had just stopped developing (4.10.09).  Had a D&C that day, and had the baby tested for chromosonal abnormalities.  Came back with an extra stran of chromosones (usually you have 23 from mom and 23 from dad - this baby had another set of 23 - for a total of 69 - instead of the required 46).  "Incompatible with life" is what they said.  And we also found out it was another little girl.  :(

Needless to say, we were exhausted and just down.  So we opted to take a break from TTC, until fall 2009.  We had a big summer planned and kicked it off with a fun trip to Vegas.....well, too much vodka later, and a relaxed mommy & daddy...not everything stays in Vegas!  :)  We found out that we were pg again in June - was 4 days late for AF, but I didn't think it was possible, since we weren't trying.  :)  Anyway, so far so good.  Strong heartbeat, and had my first jab last night from LO.  We are so excited and ready for #2!  We have our big u/s in 2 weeks!  :)

Glad to have you here, and it's always nice to read others stories.  I really found the MPL board and the TTCAL boards so helpful after our loss.  And this board is WAY better than the tri boards, because these ladies "get it".  :)

  • I spent 2 months on the MC/PL board and the TTCAL board (double boarding depending on my moods) I still look in on the ones I have made connections with. And Can't wait for them to move up to this board with us.

For my story so far... Look in my bump bio.

  • I was on TTCAL and mc/pl for so long, I feel like I know everyone.  Im not complaining, I've met some amazing women!

My story: I got pg our first month trying right after our wedding.  I found out at 12 weeks during my NT scan it was a BO.  I had a D&C a few days later.  When the pathology report came back it was found to be a partial molar pregnancy.  With that I had to wait about seven months before we could TTC.  Luckily I had the amazing women of TTCAL to keep me company and sane.  Then on cycle #5 TTCing we got our BFP yesterday!

  • I know some of these ladies from TTCAL, which was my home for about 6 months.

We started TTC in March 08, and got our first BFP on 8/1. I started bleeding a couple days later, and cramping on 8/5. I ended up in the ER that night (my birthday) where they confirmed the m/c. The doc said it was most likely and empty sac. We were able to start TTC right away, which is when I joined TTCAL (love that board, just hate being there!) In November I went to the doc because my period was 10 days late and I had had 3 BFNs. They did a test there which ended up positive, I had betas drawn and they never made it above 42. I started bleeding a couple days later, and passed the clot. I was diagnosed with Mycoplasma Uriah(sp?), Low P4, and slight MTHFR. Antibiotics cleared up the first one. I got this BFP on Mother's Day, and was on P4 supplements until 12 weeks, and so far so good! We're hoping this means the MTHFR is too slight to be a problem since we didn't address it.

  • I actually don't really know anyone on the board, I just joined when I got my BFP, I was on the 1st tri board for the most part but then I discovered this board, it is so positive and welcoming and not as snarky as the 1st tri.

I had my loss in December 2007.  I was 20 weeks along and at the big 20 week u/s it was discovered my baby was not in my ute (or so they thought).  Long story short, I ended up in an ambulance to the Kaiser in San Francisco (I live about an hour north of SF).  After an MRI and about 10 Dr's totally perplexed about my condition, they discovered that I had an abnormal ute that had sort of a "pocket or horn" and that is where the baby was.  So, it had ruptured, I was bleeding internally and they had to perform a C-Section to remove the abnormal part of my ute, one of my fallopian tubes and my baby.  To say the least, it was by far the worst thing I have ever gone thru in my whole life.

I wish you all the best with your pregnancy!

  • Ok, here's my story:

Started TTC in February 2008 and got my BFP in June.  Pregnancy seemed to go fine and I monitored my own betas in the lab I work in.  At around 9 weeks I "didn't feel pregnant anymore" even though I had no cramping or spotting and ran my betas and they had decreased by half.  My m/c was discovered for sure in the ER the next day; baby probably stopped developing around 6 weeks or so.  The ER doc was sure I'd be able to miscarry on my own so no D&C or anything was ordered.  2 weeks later I finally started to bleed and after one really bad day when I passed the sac I bled heavy to light pretty much from the end of July until the beginning of September.  All during that time I spent on PL meeting many wonderful ladies.
I finally moved to TTCAL at the end of September and was convinced to have a positive attitude and make this thing work.  I started posting late at night at the end of November and helped found the group LNN (Late Night Nesties) with mrsmiller06, Lunatwo, jamie.LOVES.mark, mrsemmalouise, chelm, and many others (if I messed up your screenname please excuse me, I usually refer to you as your first name).  Here I became known for my David Cook PIPs that would get kind of raunchy as I got more drunk.  TTCAL was a blast and I met so many great friends through it.  I got this BFP at the end of February after probably concieving on the EDD from my first pregnancy (I'm sure my angel was looking out for me there), and here I am!  Now to get the rest of my TTCAL friends here.....

  • I go way back before there were even distinct loss boards.  In 2005 I had my first miscarriage.  My DH and I were surprised to discover that I was pregnant after I missed a week of birth control pills.  I started spotting not long after, had an ultrasound and everything looked great.  We went on vacation, had fun enjoying our time together and thinking about our future.  When we got back, I started bleeding red and the ultrasound showed that the baby had died.  We were devestated.

We tried right away. It took us 3 months to get pregnant with Ethan.  He was born August 18, 2006.

We tried for a while and then I went back on birth control.

Started trying again in November 08 and got pregnant in December.  It was a blighted ovum.  I miscarried around the same time as PurpleK and Heidisean and Bren.  I stayed on the miscarriage boards for a while. I still lurk.

Moved over to TTCAL because we decided not to wait. I started a group called "ladies in waiting" and got to know tons of girls that way.  It was so therapeutic for me.

I got pregnant right away (before AF) and it ended in chemical pregnancy.  I was due the same time as MelissaAB... actually.

Then I got pregnant right away again (before AF) in April with this one (Jonathan).  There were quite a few of us from TTCAL who came over at the same time so it was really nice.  In fact, Irishbaby and I were even having the same issues at the begining of our pregnancies and it really looked like we would both be going back to TTCAL, but fortunately our prayers were answered and here we still are!

I was really excited to see bride2b2004 on here because I actually knew her from 2005.  I also know Alexandra'smom from the parenting and miscarriage boards.  I am still waiting for many of my friends from TTCAL to come over too.

I have also really enjoyed getting to know my labor buddy Mrs.Diss and would really recommend getting one!

So in total, I have had 4 miscarriages.  RPL testing revealed nothing.  I did take progesterone, baby asprin, extra folic acid and b complex along with prenatal as a precaution and so far so good. Hoping and praying that everything continues to go well for ALL OF US!

  • Hi!  I am a regular on the RI Knotties board, and used to pop in to TTCAL every once in a while, but this is the first Bump board I've really made my home.

I had an ectopic pregnancy in October 2006 that caused some severe damage to my tube.

We got a BFP in April 07, but I had a natural miscarriage a week later, before I was able to see the doc.

After that, we discovered that I have PCOS in addition to a defective tube, and started to doubt we could have children.  We stopped "trying" for 2 months before starting IVF....which we never had to do, because 2 weeks before my RE appt, we got a suprise BFP!

I graduated into my 2nd tri yesterday.  :D

  • Hi!

DH and I already have two LO's and found out in January 09 that we were expecting #3. I had a perfect, easy pregnancy (just like the first two) without any complications. I stood up from the couch one night in March at 13 weeks and my water broke, then I began to hemorrhage. I ended up losing two pints of blood and had an emergency d&e. It turns out when lost our little girl to Turner's syndrome, and it just took my body longer to realize something was wrong.

There were a group of us who m/c'd around the same time. We formed a small support group of our own, emailing and getting to know each other...and began the Cherry Blossoms. They are a wonderful group of women, and many have moved onto SAL.

I m/c'd March 18th, had my first AF April 20th and was pregnant again May 16th. So far this pregnancy has been flawless, and my nerves have finally subsided. We're having another boy; I think having a girl after losing our last little girl would have been too hard this time around. I'm halfway through 2nd tri, and can't wait to hold my little monkey in my arms.
