Besides the mylicon they are giving me in the hospital what other remedies have some of you used after having a c-section. I have passed some gas but I still feel alot more and I will feel so much better once I can get alot of it out.
one of my nurses made me ginger tea... take hot tea and fill up 1/2 a glass, fill the other 1/2 with ginger ale. I actually liked it alot and it totally worked for me. I"m sure just ginger ale would work too, but I liked the hot after I was put under and the tube down my throat irritated me...
Walking is going to make the biggest difference for you. I know how awful it feels to do it, but seriously, the sooner you get out of bed and get moving, the better. Sitting on the toilet will help, too. And once you feel a fart coming on, just let it rip, lady!
No real suggestions, but just want to pass along my empathy. I had completely forgotten (until now) how awful that feels. See how quick you forget the pain! My guts were so loud it would make my husband jump from across the room. Anyways, like PP said I think trying to move around as much as you can and just letting it out helps.
I second the moving around. Also, stay away from straws, they create gas as I am told. I also have noticed that the more real food I eat, the less gas I had, when compared to my previous deliveries. I have had 5 c-sections, and the last two I was allowed to eat regular food right away and I had little gas (or actually pain from it) with them. The first ones where I was on a liquid diet in the beginning were worse. I don't know if it's just me, but I did notice a difference with the gas issue.
One of the local doulas suggested laying on the bed like a baby does... face down with the butt up in the air. Supposedly it helps the gas move? I didn't talk to her until after all my gas was gone, so I don't know if it actually works.
