OB appts. question

So it seems like for every appointment, all I do is get weighed, pee in a cup, and then the doctor checks for the fetal heartbeat with a doppler thing-y.  Is that all that they do?  When does anything different happen?

Re: OB appts. question

  • That's pretty much it for a normal pregnancy. You'll do an NT scan if you choose around 12wks, an anatomy scan around 18-20wks, Glucose test around 28wks, and a GBS test around 36wks. Generally it's just a quick trip each time.

  • Yup...that's pretty much it. Around 26 weeks you'll do the GD test (drink the orange drink and then have your blood taken an hour later) and around 36 weeks they'll do the group B step and might start internal exams. Other then that it's a lot of b/p, weight, urine sample and doppler. Quick appts. are good...means you're having a normal pregnancy. :)
  • Well, already did the NT scan and anatomy scan, though that was with the perinatologist, not the OB.  Also had the 3-hr. GD test already.  Looks like it's a lot of quick appointments until much, much later!
