I agree with most of those too. I did like my cart cover when DD first started sitting the cart, just because it seemed more comfortable, but its not really necessary at all.
The thing they forgot to mention about the video monitor is that many cars with a back up camera can actually pick up your video monitor signal and get a lovely picture of your baby in their car! I just got a van with one and was shocked while driving through my neighborhood when all of a sudden the little video screen came on (it's only supposed to come on when I'm in reverse) and there was a baby on it! I immediately changed my registry to just a sound monitor.

It can also pick up if people in your neighborhood have video monitors. I do think there is a monitor out there that avoids this issue, but I don't remember the name.
I have several pairs of shoes, but they were all given to me. I did buy one pair, but not for him wear, they are part of his room decor (which was probably also a waste of money, but oh well). The only other thing I have on the list is the shopping cart cover, but I got it more for the comfort factor.
Yay!! I'm not a complete push over for the marketers!!

Whoa! That is crazy!
I totally agree with everything on that list. I don't have any of it and I don't miss it.
I'd say that those crib bedding sets are the worst offenders. So incredibly overpriced and useless. A few sets of sheets are all you really need, and if you want to cute it up a bit it's much cheaper to buy it all separately.
edit: I forgot that I did buy DS a pair of shoes when he started pulling up to standing, and they were a waste of money. They never stayed on when he started crawling around, and now he's outgrown them. I'm not buying him another pair until he's actually walking.
I have to agree with most of those things. We didn't have a video monitor, just a regular baby monitor, and that was fine with us. Diaper genie was awful. I'll take the diaper champ or even a regular covered stainless steel trash can over it any day. We had a wipe warmer because someone gave us one, but not a necessity. I put shoes on them all the time before they were walking because it was cute! When they started walking I did when we went out but left them barefoot at home.
ETA: We didn't have a shopping cart cover, and that is one thing I do wsh I had.

Well forget the video monitor for the baby - it has been ESSENTIAL for my toddler when we transitioned her over to her big girl bed. It takes DD like 30 minutes to fall asleep and there is all kinds of fooling around in her room, so it's nice to be able to see what she is doing. Last thing I want is her flipping herself over the bed rail or something and knowing I could have prevented it.
another vote for the shopping cart cover. we don't use it that often anymore, but it came with a pillow which helped to prop her up a little bit when she was small in the cart (4-5m) . and it works on high chairs too--some of those chairs are pretty funky and it was nice to not have to worry about her picking up old food from a crack or something. now she's often in a booster so we don't use it.
I agree with everything except the shoes, we had ds1 in shoes from the go, and now we do not have a problem with him taking them off all when he needs them on.
We use the wipe warmer everyday. Our boys are probably just spoiled by it, but they flinch and fling their body if the wipes aren't warm and it is especially nice in the middle of the night if they have a poopy diaper and I don't want to startle them awake with cold wipes.
The steam sterilizer I cannot live without. I clean 8 bottles twice a day and with the sterilizer it takes me 10 minutes and I'm done. (5 minutes for 4 bottles at a time) The dishwasher would take a LOT longer.
The diaper genie we love. I have never noticed a smell and we have two babies filling that thing up. Of course, maybe it is because it fills up every 2 days and we have to empty it so often that there isn't time for anything to smell.
But, of course, they aren't MUSTS, they are just nice things to have. We were lucky and were given everything as gifts. Don't know if I would buy them if I hadn't been given them.
I agree with everything BUT the shopping cart cover. Whether it has been proven to help prevent colds/flus or not, it's still disgusting to put your infant in those nasty carts without something comfortable to sit in. We use ours all the time. And I also wipe the carts down with those sani-wipes that most stores have now.
I've caught my kids, too many times to count, gnawing on the cart handle when I was inspecting labels or focused on my shopping. GROSS!
I agree with all of these except the grocery cart cover. I use mine all the time and feel so much better knowing that when DD was a baby she wasn't gnawing on metal. Plus we wash ours every couple weeks so it stays pretty clean.

I also like shoes for the cute factor

I agree with most, I really didn't start putting shoes on my kids until they were pulling up.
I love my diaper champ and I am getting a second one for this baby.
