Ever since I got pregnant it's been a countdown until my last day of work. Every little thing is beginning to irritate me, especially my boss, grrrrr. I'm a legal secretary but more like a personal assistant, which is beginning to really get to me.
This morning, as soon as I sat down at my desk my boss calls me and bombards me with booking flights and hotels and calling this agency and that agency trying to get his weekend organized (which has absolutely nothing to do with work I might add). Seriously, what happened to people being able to do things themselves. I obviously don't mind doing work related stuff since that's what I went to school for and was hired to do, but I'm beginning to get a little tired of the booking of concert tickets and trips to Hawaii, flights, and hotels, and ESPECIALLY anything that has to do with politics ugh!
I get a year off for maternity leave and I cannot wait, and I'm certainly NOT coming back full time afterwards. Anyone else just watching the calendar, waiting until they get a break or better yet, never have to return?
Re: Anyone else counting the days until maternity leave?? Vent...
LOL! Yes! I have 26 working days until we are moving and because my husband is getting deployed I will not be returning back to work for a year or maybe I'll decide to stay home! I am very excited, because right now I am an assistant and I HATE it! This is not my ideal job and just doing it for now while my husband is trying, but this is only a temporary duty station. I cannot wait to leave!
You are so lucky, I envy you...I know my time will come though!
YES!!! I am feeling the exact same way! I feel like I have no motivation to do anything! Everything here irritates the crap out of me! Even the things that didn't used to bother me! I have been trying to tell myself, if I can make it through the next two months, I will be ok. Then I'll have all the holidays and get lots of days off, then I will probably quit in January. I just have to try not to lose it in the next two months!!
You are DEFINITELY not alone in that one!
I am. I don't plan on coming back to work. And it is making my pregnancy seem to go even slower. I try not to think about it, but I find myself dreaming about my "future life" pretty often.
My boss would also like a personal assistant. Maybe he will get one once I'm gone.
Unfortunately I have to come back part time, but still my year long break will be so glorious!!!
Oh and another thing, my fabulous boss sees me yesterday lifting heavy file boxes, says "you shouldn't be lifting heavy things", so I stop, and he doesn't finish putting the boxes away. So there they sit, wonder for how long????
Me too! DH and I decided that I will SAH with LO once he's born. My salary, unfortunately, is just enough to cover day care--- so our thought is, why am I working to pay someone else to watch him, when it eats my whole check? So I'm staying home. Shhhh, work doesn't know that yet!
So, I'm going to guess....... Lemme look at the calendar...... 13.5 work weeks left, so considering 5 days in a work week, that's about 67 days left of work if I carry alllll the way to my due date. I haven't talked to my boss much about it, but I'd like to take off a couple of weeks before I'm due just to have time to get ready (since I'm not worried about having time at the end of my leave, you know?)...
Actually, right now I'm more in a "OMG! Only three months until my leave! So much to get done!" place.
I am sure once I get through our busy fall and it's closer to Christmas/baby time, I will get antsy to be off.
