Thoughts on girl's name Devin?

I love the name Devin for a girl. DH is not thrilled with it. He's not big on names that could be used for either a boy or a girl. I also wouldn't want my little girl to go through life with people thinking she's a boy just based on her name (before they meet her, obviously). We don't know what we're having yet, just planning ahead.

I like it. But I had a very good (female) friend growing up named Devin. I also had a male friend named it as well, but for me I don't automatically think girl or boy. It's pretty unisex to me.
I think a Devin would be more apt to be mistake for a boy than a Devon though.
Ditto. The only Devin I've known is a guy.
I've always seen it as the opposite - that Devon was the boy's spelling, Devin could go either way, and Devyn was the girls's spelling.

I teach and I've had several Devin boys and Devon girls (I teach college, so I suppose I should say men and women). This is over the stretch of a number of years - doesn't seem to be an extremely common name. Not rare, but only used enough so that it doesn't sound strange.
My neighbor has what I think is a wonderful name. She's named Devony. When people drop by and they meet her or I mention her often say, 'ooh - great name!'. It's clearly and obviously female, sound pretty when spoken aloud, and seems pretty hip to me. Of course, we often call her Devon, too.
I just love it. I'm considering it, but I don't know if I want to 'steal' my neighbors name :-)
